The brand name Colormix was set up in 1997 as a independent mechanical division of Electron S.r.l a company of
TEMA Group located in Castelnuovo Rangone in Modena - Italy , specialized in dosing and weighing solutions
In 2005 this division was merged into TEMA S.p.A, a company that still works on the industrial automation market
and is specialized in software development and manufacture of electrical panels.
Colormix has been introduced in many different fields (Ceramic, Paint, Packaging Ink)
In July 2009 a new company oriented on industrial automation, ZS Tech S.r.l situated in Sassuolo (MO),
bought the business unit called “COLORMIX” from the Italian company TEMA S.p.A
More than 400 tintometric systems have been installed in more than 20 different countries and different fields
(Ceramic, Paints , Inks )
Colormix with its high technological systems has made a name for itself as a reliable company orientated to
provide full customer satisfaction.
The products made by Colormix are well known on the worldwide market for ceramics, paint and flexography inks.
Innovative technology and prompt answers are the main values our customers ask for on the global market.
Starting form end of 2011, ZS Tech “entered” into the fine milling process for the production of ceramic digital
decoration inks. Since the last February -2012 first NANO mill (was installed in Italian factory to produce digital
decoration inks).
In year 2012 , ZS TECH acquired different references and improved the
knowledge on this new process.
During last edition of TECNARGILLA 2012, ZS TECH was the first and
Only company that introduced into the ceramic world , a complete
turnkey solution for the digital decoration inks production.
In November 2013 tne name of the company was changed in
I-TECH S.r.l

Water-based and solvent-based inks for printing on following supports: - gloss and matt paper,
-polyethylene and polypropylene for the food sector, -polyester, -nylon, -metal film, -self-adhesive tape, -packaging paper, -corrugate cardboard
The liquid inks industry is one of the specilization of Colormix systems. Often the industry requires a dispensing system in the factory to produce large quantities of ink and, at the same time, small systems at the ink manufacturer’s customer, in order to prepare small batches. This requires a trust in the dispensing company to recommend it to a customer. Colormix easily handles these needs by offering large scale dispensing systems to the ink manufacturers and smaller, more cost effective systems, to their customers
Paste inks
- Offset - UV
The paste inks industry requires the same dispensing technology as the others but with a twist, because the viscosity of the raw material is 100 – 200 times higher than standard paints or inks.
We are not specialized on this kind of application and we don’t have the right know how.

Innovation
To innovate is to change, and change is born of ideas, insights and responses. To innovate is to develop: to develop those ideas, insights and responses, using leading-edge scientific and technological tools.
To innovate is to improve: to improve products and processes through research, development and challenge.
But above all, to innovate is to believe: to believe that you can change. Innovation means change.
Digital decoration inks production for Ceramic tile industries
The digital decoration inks manufacturing process is complete different than the traditional screen printing paste production.
First of all , the pigment characteristics , used in the inks production, must meet specific technical requirements of electrical conductivity, starting particle size and color intensity.
The inks production process begins with a pre-grinding process , where pigment must to reduce from the normal size (25micron ) until 3:5 microns. through two possible different milling process:
WET = by Alsing mills or Batch mill) DRY = by Jet mill.
This first phase (step) has the purpose to reduce the solid parts particle until 3:5 microns, (this particle size is suitable for the second phase, called fine milling or nanometric milling , that leads to get inks for Ink Jet process.
In function to the pre- grinding process chose (wet or dry), it goes to the next step:
-in the first case (wet pre-milling) second step will be directly the nano (fine) milling (through disks mill) -in the second case (dry pre-milling) second step will be a dispersion (where pigment will be mixed with solvent)
and then (third step) the nano (fine) milling (by disks mill).
The dispersion phase is also important and must ensure that pigment will be well dispersed in the grinding solvents
As above mention, last milling step (called fine milling) will be done by horizontal disks mill Inside this kind of mill , we will have different combined actions between pump, discs and medias (balls), that will reduce the solid particle size from the starting 3-5 microns, up to nanometric values (D100 less than 1 micron).
During this nano grinding process occurs not only the particle size reduction, but also a chemical-physical process, (electrostatic charges neutralization of the of the individual particles that will be isolated through the solvents action)
Thanks to this process (and thanks to the solvents propriety) inks quality will be improved (NO agglomerates)
Grinding times (cycle) depends to the chemical-physical characteristics of the pigments.
Once to get desired gaussian curve (dimensional curve), the nano grinding process ends and the ink is ready to be transferred to the storage area (after filtering).
Another filtration process is recommended before the last production process step , the bottling (bottling is the packaging of lots that will be sent to the users).

PRODUCTION WORKFLOW for digital decoration INKS
(our proposal)
i-MILL grinding system
represents the last and better
grinding technology used for
the ceramic digital decoration
inks production.
Grinding chamber is fully
realized in SiCC and the
enclosed horizontal agitator
is provided with special disks
made in special material (not
subjected to wear and fully
compatible with ceramic inks)
i-MILL can be considered the
most innovative particle size
reducer for the ceramic inks.
i-MILL insures high efficiency
and high productivity in the
ceramic inks production
Better particle curve distribution (narrowest)
(Measure was took at 80% of the grinding process timing)
I-MILL disks
Other agitators type “pins”
Thanks to the action (fluid forces) generated
by our grinding agitators (disks) , the final
particle curve will be more narrow
