Instructions

√ This presentation is a self- programed learning opportunity for staff. √ Certain slides have links to a video related to the topic on that page.

Therefore, the presentation should be viewed on a computer that has speakers and access to video presentations such as YouTube.

√ There is a slide (#14) that can be printed to acknowledge completion of

the presentation, so access to a printer is necessary from the computer.

√ At the end of the presentation you are directed to view the Food Allergy

Training on the District website and print off a certificate of completion for that training.

Hand washing with soap and water.

Cover open cuts.

Wear gloves when coming in contact with

bodily fluids.

Handle sharps safely and only when absolutely

necessary.

Call 911

Learn how to dial 911 from your classroom, the school library and office. If using a cell phone give the name of the town and the location of the victim.

Accidental Poisoning

Poisons can be swallowed, inhaled, absorbed or injected If you suspect a poisoning:

Check the scene and the person. Care for any life threatening

conditions found. Call 911.

Try to find out what poison was taken. Look for any containers

and take them with you to the phone.

Call the National Poison Control Center at (800) 222-1222

and follow their instructions.

DO NOT give the person anything to eat or drink unless

directed to do so by the National Poison Control Center or Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel.
