FALL 2016 WORLD VISION INTERNSHIPS (Monrovia, CA)

World Vision Internships provide a three-month opportunity for exceptional students and recent graduates ready to explore a career in the international relief and development sector. We are committed to providing interns with a meaningful learning experience where you are able to learn, grow and connect alongside other emerging professionals who are passionate about our mission.

DETAILS & ELIGIBILITY

Dates:

September 12 December 9, 2016

Stipend:

All US-based interns are paid a monthly stipend of $250

Hours:

Full-time and part-time opportunities are available (24-40 hours/week)

Location:

Internships will be based in Los Angeles (Monrovia, CA)

Eligibility:

All candidates must meet the following requirements:

At least 18 years of age

Able to commit to a minimum of 24 hours per week

Eligible to work in the United States (US Citizen/resident or F1-student visa)

Current student or recent graduate from an undergraduate/graduate program (within 2 years)

FALL 2016 INTERNSHIPS (Monrovia, CA)

Global Communications Intern:

Eligible Candidates: Current college student or recent college graduate

Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: Communications, Journalism, Media, Photography/Videography, Content Curation & Management

World Vision's Content Team is responsible for the storage of over 300,000 valuable digital assets. These assets are the photos, videos and stories that fuel marketing, advocacy and communications across the global World Vision Partnership.

Intern responsibilities will include:

Curating content refining the quality of content offered in our systems.

Improving the Digital Asset Management system to better meet user needs.

Applying industry best-practices to our library metadata and tagging practices.

Training staff on new technologies and systems.

Business Strategy Intern, Global Information Security:

Eligible Candidates: Recent college graduate or graduate student

Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: MBA, Finance, Business/Technology

Intern will:

Report on global operation risk: identify issues and provide a comprehensive understanding of the operational impact imposed by threat factors within the NGO sector and prioritize the impact by likelihood and overall financial impact.

Information Security KPI development plan:

Information Security strategy and financial model.

Establish a baseline evaluation outlining how we optimize our operation and how we can affect changes for our constituent from within World Vision.

Business Process Improvement Intern, Global Information Technology:

Eligible Candidates: Recent college graduate or graduate student

Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: Business, Information Technology, Computer Science

Intern will:

Assist with the investigation of possible improvements to key business processes so that these processes can either be transformed through automation or be continuously improved based on Lean Six Sigma methodology.

Assist with planning for improvement programs and training staff on new methods and processes. The intern will learn the approach and methodology for business process transformation and continuous improvement, as well as gain experience in a large International NGO.

Collaboration Enablement Intern, Global Information Technology:

Eligible Candidates: Recent college graduate or graduate student

Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: Business, Communications, Social Media, Technology

Intern will:

Assist with defining an enablement strategy and subsequent planning for improving collaboration within the organization on a global basis.

Assist with using various collaboration tools and platforms (e.g. social media platforms) to help improve productivity and innovation within the global organization among the 45,000 employees. The intern will learn more about how to put collaboration within an organization context, the approach to collect relevant information for analysis and subsequent planning for implementation.

Governance Intern:

Eligible Candidates: Current college student or recent college graduate

Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: Business Administration, International Development, Political Science, Public Administration/Policy, Spanish

The Governance Department is actively working with National Offices and their boards to support their oversight structures and decision making. The intern will mainly be focused on department projects such as:

Review and analysis of existing governance resources to contribute to online resource library and an archival version that will be available to boards and National Office staff worldwide.

Utilize writing skills and creativity to develop a short e-learning course that focuses on a best practice in Governance.

Serve as primary correspondent with National Office board contacts to research and collect board information, including member composition, meetings documents and evidence of performance.

Make improvements to board member database and track updates.

Develop useful presentations and other resources for department.

Spanish language skills are desirable as many of the resources are created for the Latin American National Offices.

Global Supply Chain Management Intern:

Eligible Candidates: Current college student, recent college graduate or current graduate student/completed graduate program

Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Project Management, Finance

World Vision's GSCM team is dedicated to ensuring that World Visions programmes and responses around the world get the goods and services they need when needed, where needed and at the right price. The supply chain team manages thousands of suppliers, hundreds of purchasers and a complex logistics network.

Implement new Contract Management System for Global Procurement within Coupa (cloud-based procurement and supply chain software).

Design numbering system for tracking and reviewing purposes.

Create purchase orders in collaboration with suppliers.

Liaise with National and Regional Offices to receive contracts.

Develop monitoring system for contracts and renewals.

Communications & Knowledge Management Intern, Global Supply Chain:

Eligible Candidates: Current college student, recent college graduate or current graduate student/completed graduate program

Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Project Management, Finance

Global Supply Chain is embarking on a challenging project that is introducing a major process change to the organisation. Tasked with saving the partnership money, the GSCM team is working on a procurement project called ProVision. The intern will report to GSCM's communication officer and work closely with the department's finance and administration manager in the creation of documents, training materials and presentations.

Intern will:

Work with the team to create communication materials for internal WV audiences that communicates the GSCM mission and vision and ProVision priorities.

Help to organize and write stories and information for internal publication to the GSCM community of practice and internal stakeholders.

Assist in updating intranet information pages.

Help drive engagement of internal stakeholders to collaborative spaces.

Internship Programmes Intern:

Eligible Candidates: Current college student or recent graduate

Do you have experience leading and coordinating teams and programs? Interested in learning about leadership development and talent acquisition/recruiting? You will work as a key member of our team as we develop and coordinate weekly internship

programming including our World Vision Speaker Series, Professional Development Seminars and more! Specific responsibilities include:

Support the overall coordination of the Summer 2016 Internship Programme.

Support recruiting efforts for the Fall 2016 Internship Programme.

Communicate relevant information to all interns in the US-based offices with regard to cohort session details, schedules and weekly activities.

Research and develop engaging seminars relevant to the development of emerging professionals.

Learning & Development Intern, Global IT:

Eligible Candidates: Current college student or recent graduate

Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: Education/Instructional Design, Communications, Human Resources, Leadership, Organizational Communication, Organizational Psychology, Psychology

The World Vision IT Culture, Learning and Communications Team is responsible for creating a unified culture, engaging employees, equipping managers with skills to lead change and develop their teams, and providing learning opportunities which create a culture of competence, domain expertise and thought leadership in the field of Global IT.

Intern responsibilities include:

Provide learning and development administration - programming courses, reporting and assisting in Virtual Instructor Led training & promotion.

Assist in instructional design and development of e-learning modules.

Assist in developing bi-monthly newsletters - edit articles, format for PDF, email and web based format.
