Are you a highly motivated Project Manager with experience of process improvement? Can you work confidently and collaboratively with others to deliver outcomes? Would you like to join an innovative and award-winning service that is at the forefront of Digital Education provision within the Higher Education sector?

The Digital Education Service is a core University service which delivers innovative digital learning and institutional digital education solutions. As a Project Manager (Operations & Processes), you will help to ensure that the Service has clear, documented and fit for purpose processes as well as managing key service projects.

You will demonstrate and support our commitment to service excellence ensuring efficient policies, processes and operations to support the growth of the Digital Education Service.

You will have significant recent experience of managing and delivering concurrent complex projects throughout the entire project lifecycle with experience of applying best practice project methodologies. You will have strong communication and influencing skills with an ability to organise and work effectively with others.

What does the role entail?

As Project Manager (Operations & Processes), your main duties will include:

 Working with the Service’s Executive team and senior managers to analyse, map and document existing processes;

 Working with key stakeholders to improve and develop new processes; Review processes to ensure they are fit for purpose on a regular basis as the service continues to grow and diversify;

 Implement a Service knowledge base site to store documents which record processes, roles and responsibility and similar documentation; ensure staff awareness and compliance with this documentation taking responsibility for supporting staff adoption as required;

 Supporting Service ad-hoc, non-standard projects, delegating and overseeing

activity to Project Officers where appropriate;

 To manage the Team risk registers within the Service, working with assigned Team representatives to ensure registers are accurate, preparing and presenting regular reports to the Executive Group;

 To support the Head of Operations in updating and managing the Service risk register;

 Line management of the Project Officers within the service to ensure consistency of practice across the team, managing project officer resource across the Service Teams;

 Planning for and managing the human resource aspects of project delivery, ensuring clarity and engagement of roles with those engaged on the project, providing a smooth transition to business as usual and minimising disruption through effective and appropriate change readiness techniques;

 Working with the Head of Operations to provide timely and accurate project reporting to key stakeholders;

 Working collaboratively with colleagues to make project management approaches consistent, effective and transparent through the use of industry- standard approaches and methodologies;

 Supporting project boards and providing relevant management information where required;

 Contributing to the development of change management skills through sharing best practice; coaching and supporting other colleagues impacted by the project;

 Making recommendations based on lessons learnt for future projects, acting as an internal consultant to provide objective guidance and advice to senior management, in conjunction with the Head of Operations;

 Demonstrating both personal and role model leadership in terms of being focussed, flexible, professional, motivated and personally effective in order to deliver the agreed deliverables and outcomes;

 Developing and maintaining a high level of knowledge of the latest developments within the University of Leeds, the HE sector, and best practice in project management in order to provide advice and guidance on a range of issues within the Digital Education Online Learning Team.

the post.

What will you bring to the role?

As a Project Manager (Operations & Processes), you will have:

 Significant recent experience in applying best practice project methodologies successfully to deliver high profile, concurrent complex projects throughout the entire project lifecycle;

 Experience of process mapping and business process engineering;

 Significant experience of managing risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies and changes on a project;

 An ability to work confidently and assertively with a range of senior stakeholders, using strong coaching, negotiating, communication and influencing skills to achieve successful outcomes and manage expectations;

 Ability to be flexible, creative and self-motivated in approaching complex organisational issues, with an ability to ensure delivery of stated project outcomes through strong organisation and prioritisation skills;

 Experience of leading and managing staff and project teams with an ability to achieve results through other people without necessarily using formal line management authority;

 Experience in the use of Smartsheet and of interacting with a collaborative tool such as MS SharePoint and Microsoft Teams;

 A good understanding of Higher Education combined with ability to challenge accepted norms;

 Excellent skills in leading and facilitating workshops and events; providing structure to enable groups to function effectively;

 Strong problem solving and analytical capability; confident dealing with complex financial, performance, strategy and organisational information.

You may also have:

 Previous experience working in a Higher Education environment or heavily regulated industry;

 Previous experience of managing digital education projects;

 A Prince 2/ P3O or other relevant project management qualification (e.g. APM

/ PMI).
