Key points that should be considered:

Use our postal EDDM program to determine your
target market area & to determine your postage cost Consider how discount offerings/coupons can be
incorporated onto your mail piece
Test different customer offerings to see which one works to obtain new business
Create urgency for customer to act (expire date) Consider the timing of your mailing

Two Options of Every Door Direct Mail:
1. Every Door Direct Mail – Retail™ - mail is entered
at the local Post Office™ that serves the neighborhoods you want to reach.
2. Every Door Direct Mail – BMEU - mail is submitted
at a Business Mail Entry Unit (BMEU) where the mailing permit is held.

ONLY 14.5 cents per piece
No permit needed
No names or addresses required
5,000 maximum pieces per office per day
Have to mail to at least ONE mail route
Maximum weight is up to 3.3 ounces per piece

Minimum: >10.5” long OR >6.125” high Or >.25” thick

(3 pieces of copy paper or 70 lb. paper stock)

Create a free business account on
the Business Customer Gateway
Create user ID & password
You will obtain your unique Customer Registration ID (CRID) after account is
created online

You WILL NOT have to wait for confirmation to start mailing
CRID is located on the “Profile” page. This is
automatically assigned once you register for a Business Account. You will need your CRID # to complete your
mailing statement. Please write it down.

Determine target zip code
Utilize the EDDM Mapping Tool
• Access to the number of deliveries per route • Ability to determine specific routes in specific
neighborhoods or locations (PO Boxes are 6 days)
• Ability to choose a select radius around a specific address • Option to select Business and Residential OR Residential
only. (option to select business only is NOT available yet)
• Option to select city routes, rural/highway contract routes

Remember, it is ONLY 14.5 cents per
piece of mail
Payment is due in full at the time of
depositing EDDM mail at your local post
office
Payment methods include:
Cash, Check, Debit/Credit Card

You can drop your EDDM mailing off at your local post office of mailing (refer to your
postage forms from the EDDM website)
If your mailing is for a zip code out of town,
you can drive to that post office OR put your mailing in a box with payment and ship it to the Postmaster of that delivering zip code
Post Offices cannot accept EDDM mail for delivery units outside of their responsible 5 digit ZIP Code

Bring in a sample before you print
Days to drop off your mailing (Thurs-Sat) Drop off early if you need to
Call us for specific areas/routes Excess EDDM pieces (seasonal)
EDDM website is updated every 30 days EDDM mail is not forwarded (3rd class)
