Established in 1983, TigerTech is a full service technology reseller, offering

educational pricing to University of Missouri students, faculty and staff. In partnership with the Division of IT, TigerTech provides MU students with a one-stop technology resource. Our central location in the MU Student Center gives students easy and convenient access to sales, service and support for technology at MU. As an educational reseller, TigerTech receives special pricing on products that are not offered to the general public. Because TigerTech is owned and operated by the University of Missouri, our top priority is to help students select affordable, user-friendly tools that will assist them in virtually any program of study at Mizzou.

ABOUT TIGERTECH

ABOUT TIGERTECH

Student Purchase Plan

The Computer Purchase Plan allows eligible students to spread the cost of a computer over four payments. The first payment is charged to your University of Missouri student account on the day that you receive your computer. The remaining three payments will be charged to your account over the next three semesters. No billing takes place during the summer sessions. TigerTech’s one-time administrative

fee is a simple 7.8 percent of the purchase price, which is added to your total. There is no accruing interest from TigerTech during the length of the plan. A short application must be filled out for approval.

Software

TigerTech offers educationally-priced software, saving you up to $800. Microsoft Office is required by all departments and is provided

free of charge to currently enrolled

students. TigerTech also carries Adobe, AutoCAD, and other required software. Please check with your professor for software requirements before purchasing, then visit the store for current educational pricing.

Service Department

If you are having trouble with your laptop or need to get your wireless set up, just bring it in to the service desk. The TigerTech service desk is operated by the Division of IT and can perform basic troubleshooting or answer questions you may have. If your computer requires a hardware repair, the service desk can check the machine into our service department, where certified technicians can properly diagnose and fix any hardware, virus or spyware problems. TigerTech is certified to perform warranty repair on Dell and Apple computers. If your machine is out of warranty or your repair does not fall within your warranty specifications, TigerTech can still perform the repair for an hourly fee.

Warranty And Insurance

TigerTech recommends that you have your computer covered by an insurance policy to protect against accidental damage. Many homeowner policies have plans for this type of coverage.

Our bundles include either a three-year manufacturer’s warranty, which includes accidental damage coverage, or a three-year Extended

Warranty Solution from CPS. This plan covers unintentional damages as a result of: impact, liquid damage or unintentional physical damage. Accidental Coverage does not cover intentional damages of any kind or losses due to theft.

Tax Holiday

From August 7-9, 2015, the State of Missouri will suspend state sales tax on educational items, such as clothing and school supplies, including equipment purchased at TigerTech. City of Columbia and Boone county taxes still apply. You can order a computer online or in-store and TigerTech will hold the machine until the tax holiday weekend, at which time you can pay for your computer.

Summer Welcome Laptop Distribution & Setup

Attend one of our sessions on Day two of Summer Welcome. No need to sign up, just join us any time from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the lower level of The Mizzou Store. Pick up your pre-ordered computer, or purchase one from TigerTech during summer welcome - we have plenty available. If you already own a computer, feel free to bring it along, we'll help you get that set up too. At each session, we will set up your computer to access the technology services available for you at MU.

Division of IT technicians will also set up some mobile devices with campus email, goMizzou app and wireless.

TECH SUPPLY BUNDLE

1. Backpack or Carrying Case

Why get a laptop if you can’t safely transport it? We have a large selection of top-quality cases and your bundle comes with a case of your choice.

2. 16 GB Flash Drive

The flash drive has become the number one way of transporting and sharing files and documents on campus. Save your documents to this flash drive, then take it to a lab to print.

3. 25’ Ethernet Cable

Yes, we are a wireless campus, but there are some areas that are not wireless yet. Your residence hall room, for instance, still has an Ethernet port where you might have to plug in.

4. CPS Extended Warranty Solution

Accidents happen. Stay protected. This extended warranty covers unintentional damages as a result of: impact, liquid damage or unintentional physical damage. It does not cover intentional damages of any kind to the covered product or losses due to theft, willful damage, misuse, damage due to neglect, drops over six feet, fire damage, full immersion in water or damage caused by the use of a product in a way the manufacturer never intended.

5. Surge Protector

Don’t fall victim to power surges that can damage your computer. A surge protector will suppress them and keep your equipment safe. Plus, it will give you more outlets!

6. Ethernet Adapter

Some computers (MacBook Air and MacBook Pro with Retina Display) require an Ethernet adapter to use wired internet in your residence hall.

Remember Microsoft Office is available at no charge to all currently enrolled students.

The Division of IT will assist with installation at Summer Welcome.
