The 1818 program does not verify the accuracy or authenticity of the responses from the survey. The report is meant to be a helpful tool, but is not a guarantee how or if the courses taken will be accepted at another institution.
The 1818 Program claims no responsibility and provides no guarantee regarding transferring of credits to another institution. It is the student’s responsibility to declare and communicate with prospective institutions regarding the transferability of SLU credit before enrolling as a full time student.
It should be noted that if an institution is not listed on this report, it does not mean the institution does not accept SLU credit, rather we have not had alumni either attend or report back the success of their transfer.
HOW TO TRANSFER CREDITS
Saint Louis University provides transcripts free of charge if printed. Students may request up to five transcripts per day.
To request a transcript:
1. Log into mySLU.slu.edu with your SLUnet ID and password.
2. Click on the “Tools” tab
3. Click on “Banner Self-Service”
4. Click on “Student”
5. Click on “Student Records”
6. Click on “Request a Transcript”
7. Select from address Options 1 or 2, and click “Continue”
8. Enter or modify the address information and click “Continue”
9. Enter the number of copies desired and click “Continue”
10. Review the information and click “Submit Request”
TRANSFER DECISION APPEAL HELP
If an institution denies an 1818 course to be counted for credit, a student should follow the following process to seek help from the 1818 Office to appeal the decision.
1. Provide a copy of the course syllabus to the institution. The 1818 Program keeps all syllabi on file for instructors. You may reach out if you need a syllabus by emailing [email protected].
2. If an institution still denies the credit, please contact the 1818 Director at [email protected] and provide the courses in question, reason for denial, and your contact. The 1818 Director will reach out to see if they can resolve the issue or if faculty from each institution can discuss to try and resolve the situation.
While the 1818 Program will exhaust all avenues to support students in getting credits transferred, it is important to remember that it is the receiving institutions right to not accept credits and it is the student’s responsibility to investigate transferability before enrolling in a course.
ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
In addition to this report, the 1818 Advanced College Credit program encourages families to research transferability of SLU credit using the following external resources:
• SLU Interactive Transfer Map: The map is meant to help assist families in researching 1818 credit transferability to different institutions nationally. However, it is your
responsibility as a student to contact prospective institutions to articulate exactly how credits will transfer.
• Transferology.com is a free site that requires an account creation. It allows you to list all of your SLU 1818 courses and search through participating universities to see how the credits traditionally are articulated at the institution. Saint Louis University is a partner institution of the website and regularly updates its courses to ensure maximum accuracy.
• The UConn external transferability database has compiled transfer data from
institution across the country and provides a one to three star ranking on the likelihood of an institution accepting dual credit courses in general.
