Frequency converter

Frequency converter

This frequency converter is supplied in an IP67, aluminium housing and converts the mV signal from the sensors into a frequency signal that varies from 0 to 10,000 Hz, and is compatible with all our control equipment.

This frequency converter is already incorporated into most of the Power Limit sensors. This frequency converter also ensures that all strain gauge sensors are compatible with the Power Limit control equipment.

Converter addition unit

This frequency converter addition unit, in an aluminium housing, can sum 4 mV sensors and output a proportional frequency signal ranging from 0 to 10,000 Hz.

Description

T

he tensiometer is a precision item of equipment that allows loads in stretched flexible structures to be measured, without installing a dynamometer in line.

Operating principle

W

hen the tensiometer is placed on a stretched cable, it generates a signal that is approximately proportional to the load (raw, untreated signal). Nevertheless, there are a very great variety of cables on the market and each cable has its own char-acteristics of composition, diameter, rigidity, specific weight, etc.

Unfortunately, all these parameters have an incidence on the measurement results. In order to allow for all these specificities, Power Limit has designed and created its own database. In fact, for each cable stored in memory, 2 or 3 similar cables but of differing origins have been selected from amongst those most widely found in the market.

Each stored reading is compared on our tensile test benches, and the result is the average of the three readings carried out by rotating the sensor through 120° around the cable each time. To qualify a cable, 10 sets of readings are made in steps of 10% of the nominal load a total of 30 readings for each cable. These 30 readings are treated by the microprocessor that then calculates the correction polynomial that is applicable to the cable in question, and which is then stored in the database.

Using this method, Power Limit is the only manufacturer to guarantee you excellent precision across the whole measurement range.
