Dynatel

Subscriber Loop Test

Products 900 Series

Rugged and portable for harsh

environments, Dynatel test sets 900

Series offer the right mix of functions,

from loop diagnostic routines to fault

locating, transmission testing and

combination test/terminal capabilities.

3M

Dynatel

Subscriber

Loop Analyzer 965DSP

The Dynatel

Subscriber Loop

Analyzer 965DSP is a

microprocessor-controlled integrated test set that

provides full-featured POTS,

wideband and DSL-specific testing.

The functions include fault location

and repair verification on twisted-pair

and drop cables (utilizing capacitance

bridge, resistance bridge and Time

Domain Reflectometer (TDR)

functions).

The Dynatel Subscriber Loop

Analyzer 965DSP executes a wide

range of individual tests, or performs

automatic test routines to categorize

and sectionalize problems. The

hand-held 965DSP test set is housed in

a lightweight, ergonomically designed

case for portability and ease of

handling. The unit is weather-resistant

and weighs only 4.3 pounds (1.95 kg)

with battery, test leads and soft case.

3M

Dynatel

Subscriber

Loop Analyzer 965DSP/SA

The Dynatel Subscriber Loop

Analyzer 965DSP/SA delivers all

the multi-function capabilities of

the Dynatel 965DSP and provides a

Spectrum Analyzer and E, F and G

noise-weighted filters. Wideband noise

measurements are made with the E

(ISDN/ISDL), F (HDSL) and G

(ADSL) filters. The Spectrum

Analyzer test function enables the

operator to view the high-frequency

communications spectrum and identify

spectral interferers such as crosstalk

noise generated by other services.

3M

Dynatel

Subscriber

Loop Analyzers 965DSP/ADSL

and 965DSP/SA/ADSL

The Dynatel

Subscriber Loop

Analyzers 965DSP/ADSL and

965DSP/SA/ADSL feature an Alcatel

MTK-20150 modem chipset in the

proven 965DSP platform. The

965DSP/ADSL provides the ability

to perform active ADSL testing to

address the growing number of

residential and business ADSL

customers. It delivers all the

multi-function capabilities of the

965DSP plus the testing functions

of the new ADSL modem.

The 965DSP/SA/ADSL adds

comprehensive DSL parametric

measurements to this integrated

solution. Extended loss measurement

ranges, spectrum analyzer and E, F

and G filtered wideband noise

measurements complete this

comprehensive family of rugged loop

testers.

The units are weather resistant and

weigh only three pounds (4.5 lbs. with

test leads and soft case). Preserving the

rugged dependability of all Dynatel

products, the /ADSL option

incorporates an innovative design that

adds a durable “spacer” element to the

current 965DSP molded plastic case.

This spacer permits easy and robust

expansion of the new circuit board in

the existing test set.

3M

Far End Device II

Designed to provide remote controlled

far end testing assistance during

subscriber loop testing, the 3M Far

End Device (FED) II is the perfect

companion to the Dynatel 965DSP

family of subscriber loop analyzers.

The FED enhances technician

productivity by connecting to the far

end of a cable pair to enable diagnostic

testing from the near end using the

DTMF signaling capability of the

965DSP, 965DSP/SA, 965DSP/ADSL

and 965DSP/SA/ADSL test sets.

3M

Dynatel

Subscriber

Loop Tester 945DSP

The Dynatel Subscriber Loop Tester

945DSP is a microprocessor-controlled

test set that provides full-featured

POTS testing. The 945DSP subscriber

loop tester performs a wide range of

voice band tests to analyze problems

on twisted-pair cables.

Weather-resistant and weighing only 1 pound,

the hand-held 945DSP test set is

housed in a lightweight case for

portability and ease of handling.

With the 3M Dynatel Cable Length

Meter/Time Domain Reflectometer

940CLM/TDR, technicians of all skill

levels can perform a variety of

time-saving tasks when installing or

maintaining metallic cable. This

lightweight, hand-held tester:

• identifies most “clear-opens” or

“dead-shorts” and displays the

distance to the event in seconds

• instantly measures and displays cable

length in feet or meters

• continually measures voltage to

identify live circuits

• transmits four different tone

frequencies and patterns to trace

hidden cables or identify cable pairs

• includes selectable automatic

power-down options (5, 15, 30 minutes or

continuous)

The versatile, compact Dynatel

940CLM/TDR provides installation

and repair technicians one simple

device that meets several key needs.

They can use it to detect faults up to a

distance of 2500 feet (750 meters);

determine the length of cable, whether

in a box, on a spool or behind a wall;

measure and display voltages

of up to 250 volts rms; and transmit

any of four tone frequencies to trace

hidden cable in walls and ceilings.

The 940CLM/TDR includes a

convenient, built-in library of over 60

cable types. The technician selects the

type of cable to test, attaches the test

leads and receives a reading of cable

length or distance to an open or short.

Compatible with all common cables, it

features standard banana jack

connectors that accommodate a variety

of leads or connectors.

The 940CLM/TDR can save

valuable installation time by enabling

technicians to determine how much

cable they have to work with — and to

detect shorts or opens in it — before

work begins, instead of taking the risk

that they may have to start over after

wiring is well underway. When used

with the 3M

Dynatel

Subscriber

Loop Tester 945DSP, repair

technicians can use the 940CLM/TDR

to pinpoint a fault location. Both the

Dynatel Subscriber Loop Tester

945DSP and the Dynatel Cable Length

Meter/Time Domain Reflectometer

940CLM/TDR are part of 3M’s

complete family of industry-leading
