Bio Fuels

Most common renewable resources used to generate energy:

• Forest bio-mass – Whole-tree chips (green chips), forest residues like limbs, tree tops, stumps

• Bark, sawdust

• Wood/bark/straw pellets • Biobased sludges

• Recovered (biobased) fuels (REF) from industry and municipalities

• Peat (slowly renewable)

Handling Process Know-how

Various biofuels make different demands on handling equipment:

• Forest residues – Fresh, humidity, bundle ties – wear due to stones and sand, special demands on screening • Bark – Wearing properties Æ use of stainless steel

• Biobased sludges – corrosive properties

• REF – Low and fluctuating density Æ voluminous systems

• Dusting – Critical especially in screening • Peat – Dust explosion risk – heavy wear • ATEX requirements
