Starter: Subordinate clauses
Harry sneaked into Hogsmeade when he used the Marauder’s Map.
He arrived in a cellar where boxes and crates were stored.
He knew it was Honeydukes because he heard the people upstairs.
As the shop was so crowded, no one noticed Harry.
Hagrid wore gloves
because
the doxy had sharp teeth.
Main Subordinate The Hippogriff is native to Europe although it is now found worldwide.
It has a sharp beak so use gloves if you plan to feed a Hippogriff. Because it has the body of a horse, it can run fast.
It can be tamed although this must be done by an expert. Wherever you meet a Hippogriff, be polite.
Eye-contact should be made before you approach this creature. You should bow first because this shows good manners.
If the Hippogriff bows back, you are safe to approach.
Hippogriffs paw the ground where they might find insects to eat.
Task: tick yo show whether the underlined clause is a main or subordinate clause.

LO: I can research for my persuasive leaflet.
Today we are going to research for our persuasive leaflet. We will be writing a persuasive leaflet, persuading people to visit Daintree Rainforest.
What do I need to know?
● What activities are there at Daintree Rainforest? ● What can be seen at Daintree Rainforest?
● What food and drink is served at Daintree Rainforest? ● Can you stay overnight in Daintree Rainforest?
● What makes it so special? ● How much does it cost to visit? ● Where is it?
● What animals and plants might people see there?
Using the resource pack found in the Covid Home Learning Folder, spend time researching the questions listed on this slide. This information is really
important as it is what you will be writing your persuasive leaflet about.
You may display your research in any way that you like.

Some ratios can be thought of as being equivalent or matching For example 1: 3 matches with 2: 6 ...
...because if you double 1 you get 2 and if you double 3 you get 6
Keep doubling these ratios as far as you can mentally (or until you run out of room)
Maths Wednesday
1 : 3 1 : 3 2 : 6 Double (or x2) Double (or x2) 5 : 1 4 : 7 9:10Start with this one →

For the last one you need to remember the inverse of doubling or x 2 is halving or ÷2 200 : 10000

Wednesday 20.1.21
First watch this video (part a) carefully. It shows you how to use diagrams and multiplication to work out the answer to ratio problems.
Zoom Input
We can use the method of drawing multiplication arrows as shown in the video clip to find other the matching ratios.

LO: I can plan my own painting in the style of an artist.
Henri Rousseau
Today we are going to plan our own painting in the style of Henri Rousseau. We need to think
about the content, the layout and the colours we will use. Choose a rainforest or jungle animal to be
the subject of your painting.
Next week you will be creating your final piece so today is only a plan. Use Rousseau’s work as inspiration e.g. you might plan to use similar
