If you haven’t seen It, you haven’t seen BerlIn!

In January 2011, around 20 years after the German reunification, STAGE ENTERTAINMENT and Udo Lindenberg came together with the best-selling author Thomas Brussig (Sonnenallee) and director of the St. Pauli Theater Ulrich Waller to bring the Lindenberg musical to the stage. In a theatre so close to where the wall formerly divided Germany, HINTERM HORIZONT (‘beyond the horizon’) combines fact, fiction and Udo Lindenberg’s greatest hits in a moving musical melodrama about the ‘girl from East Berlin’.

The Show

Enjoy an authentic Berlin story about Germany’s reunification at the site where the wall once stood and experience a moving love story between East and West featuring the greatest hits of Udo Lindenberg – that’s HINTERM HORIZONT!

Through his music and performances, West German musician Udo Lindenberg fights like no other for a unified Germany. His appearance at the Palace of the Republic in East Berlin causes the Stasi to break out in a cold sweat, while also marking the beginning of a fateful love affair between the rocker from the West and Jessy, the girl from East Berlin.

Relive the most significant moment of German–German history up close and share the thrill of discovering whether Udo and Jessy will find happiness in the end. This show is an absolute must for every visit to Berlin. Live entertainment at its best at Stage Theater am Potsdamer Platz.

The STory

One of a kind, unmistakable and vociferous, Udo Lindenberg has definitely rocked his way into the annals of the past and present century. A man who defies any cliché and has carved his own unique career from the outset – with inimitable success.

Taking the fast track to fame at a young age to become Germany’s best drummer, subsequently laying the baseline for German rock, selling millions of discs and, still today, providing inspiration for generations of musicians. And on top of that: Udo Lindenberg didn’t see his music as entertainment, but applied it as a political instrument with mottos like Gitarren statt Knarren (‘guitars and not guns’), and hits like Son-derzug nach Pankow (‘chartered train to Pankow’). All aimed at toppling the Wall – which almost succeeded at times – and for which he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Where music is concerned, Udo Lindenberg enjoys greater success today than ever before. His latest composition Stark wie zwei (‘strong as two’) has sold more than any other Udo album before it. In addition to music, the artist is a devoted painter, something he indulges in again and again – but not with normal paint. No, he creates masterpieces in liqueur paints he has developed and patented himself. But that’s typical for Udo.
