Distance There are two distinct distance settings: For photographyat close range (portraits,groups and flash) set the setting ring (1) to the iymbol iii, and for distant shots (landscapes) to the symbol -{A. Turn film-transport wheel until it comes to a stop " 1" Thenumber will now be visible in the indicator window, and you are ready to e x p o s et h e f i l m . Having made the last exposure . . . continue to turn the film transport wheel (7) until the yellow paper trailer on the film has passed t h e i n d i c a t o r w i n d o w ( 1 0 ) .T h e n o p e n c a m e r a a n d remove Kodapak cartridge.. The bright frame in the viewfinder (6) clearly i n d i c a t e st h e i m a g e a r e a y o u w i l l g e t o n t h e f i l m . The four short lines represent the parallax compensation, in both vertical and horizontal directions, when working at a close range (i. e. portraits, groups, flash). Do not come closer to your s u b j e c tt h a n 1 . 5 m e t e r s .. The flash symbol will appear in the lower right-hand corner of the viewf inder only when the shutter setting key (3) has been set to t/30th second (see "Flash Photography" on next page.. a--l !. l. L__),. Shooting in sunlight Set the shutter setting key (3) to the symbol X. Depress the shutter release (4) gently (do not jerk). . . and your exposure is made. The exposure will be 1/200th second at a fixed aperture of fl8. (5) www.orphancameras.com W. Flash Photography. . . . simple and rapid with flash cubes All the flash cubes on the market can be fitted into the circular socket (5), (see illustration on front page). After making the exposure and permitting the shutter release (4) to return to its normal position, the flash cube automatically rotates to bring the next bulb into the firing position. Do not attempt to rotate the flash cube forcefully (bV hand) in its socket, as this will damagethe base of the cube, so that it will no longer be held securily in the socket on the camera, When all four lamps have been fired, pull the flash cube from the circular socket and replace it with a new one. Shutter setting: Set the shutter setting key (3) to the symbol I . This sets the shutter to 1/30th second, and at the same time the flash symbol appears in the lower right-hand corner of the v i e w fi n d e r . Do not attempt to use flash while the shutter setting key is set to the sun symbol.While the flash cube would fire perfectly at this setting, the short exposuretime of 1/200thsecondwould lead to incorrectflash exposure.
