PROBLEM STATEMENT
Name: Arbor Press Description:
Your design team has just reviewed a series of working drawings for an arbor press.
Your task now is to model the parts and the finished assembly in a 3D CAD program.
Teams:
You will be partnered with another student of Mr. Sjolander’s choice. The division of labor will be as follows:
Partner 1: Model Parts 1 – 7 and the Punch Holder
Partner 2: Model Parts 8 – 14 and the Punch Holder

Required Output:
Place the following items in a PDF document (except demonstration of
animations). Teacher will demonstrate PDF document binder technique on 3/25.
1. Cover page (title, name, date, name of class, block, your arbor press image) and Problem Statement Description
2. Multiview idw file, fully dimensioned and annotated, for
the rack pad (part 11), table (part 3), column (part 13) and punch holder (part 15), each to be size A on Wando Landscape A IDW.
a. Include in rack pad idw-Half section view of the rack pad b. Include in table idw-Detailed view of the chamfer on the table c. Include in punch holder idw-Auxiliary view of the punch holder d. Include in column idw-Break Out view of column.
3. Exploded view idw file of your finished arbor press Wando Landscape B.
– with parts list (Item, Qty, Part Number, Description, Mass) – with ballooning
– with an assembled ISO view
4. Demonstrate the arbor press animations to your instructor – exploded view animation
– motion animation of the rack and handle – rotation animation of the table
5. Demonstrate File Management a. IPJ file setup in H:/ drive.
b. Part naming convention followed i. 1 Base
ii. 2 Table Pin, etc.
6. Arbor Press Inquiries 1.
7. Arbor Press Inquiries 2 is worth 10 points of extra credit. If you plan to take advantage of this opportunity, that document must be submitted on time, along with all other project documents.
Extra credit is not valid if the project is turned in after the due date/time.
Absences that occur before 4/6/15 will not be accepted as an excuse for turning the project in late!

2. How many table pins will fit packed tightly together in a 2”X2.5”X8” box?
3. A customer has ordered 18 bases. What is the shipping cost if the postage rate is $1.36 per pound and the shipping container weighs 20 ounces?
4. A shelving unit can safely hold 135 pounds. Is it safe to store 2 dozen fully assembled Arbor Presses? Explain your answer.

Arbor Press Inquiries 2 (show all work)
1. A customer has ordered 2 dozen of the handle/sleeve/2 ball end subassembly. What is the cost to ship this from our factory (zip 29466) to 23692 via Media Mail with signature confirmation? Packing materials and wooden crate weigh 4.2 pounds and the crate is considered normal size. Use postage rates from www.usps.com. (Hint:
Calculate a Price, enter your info, Select Package, enter weight, Continue, Other Options: Media Mail, Add Extra Services, Signature Confirmation)
2. How many cover plates will fit tightly packed into a 4”X6”X6” box?
3. We have decided to dip the base and column with an anti-rust preservative. One quart of preservative will cover 1200 square inches and we have 150 of each of the units to coat. How much preservative do we need? Round your answer up to the nearest quart.
4. At $242.95 per ton for SAE 1020, what is the cost to manufacture one gross (144 of all SAE 1020 components) of all the SAE 1020 components in the Arbor Press?
