Created by Finnish Hedengren Security, the Hedsam Novitas access control and time attendance system is the result of several years of product development and the latest technology. In addition to the top properties of all earlier Hedsam systems, Novitas offers features like a database platform, browser access and various language options. With browser access and mobile functions like mobile clocking, the system can be used, managed and maintained regardless of time and place.
Hedsam Novitas is an excellent fit for the access control and time attendance management of both small companies and large enter-prises with several thousand employees, from one-door applications to systems with more than 1,000 doors and up to 64,000 access cards!

Hedsam Novitas – diverse features:
Access control
The access control system is a flexible, modern solu-tion for controlling the opening and closing of doors. The level of building security increases when you can determine access rights for people and see who goes where at each time. The building’s doors are equipped with electronic locks and readers. When necessary, the access control software raises an alarm when a door is left open or opened without authorisation. Events can be followed up, thanks to extensive reporting. Hedsam Novitas also proves its
cost efficiency in the long term: expensive lock rekeying is not neces-sary even if identifiers are lost.
Local controller
Hedsam Novitas, a hub-based solution (Cluster Controller), enables the control and maintenance of several sites over networks. Implemented like this, the Hedsam Novitas system can be utilised across a very large operating range. With the system’s central PC located on the main site, only local controllers can be used for remote sites if necessary. All access control system functionalities and any integration with other systems, such as intruder alarm system control, can be handled locally in real time by the cluster. The hub controls the groups of the intruder alarm system, detecting their status information.
The hub accommodates 64 Hedsam door units and up to 64,000 ac-cess cards. Several different user groups/clients can be located under the same server in, for example, shopping centres, and each client may have its own, individual cardspace managed and maintained by the user.
Access events with codes
In the Hedsam Novitas system, access to premises can also be allowed with door-specific codes without access cards. Eight four-digit opening codes can be specified for each door. Each code has a date and time range during which it is valid. This feature is very useful in situations where training/conference rooms are rented out for temporary use and you do not want to provide the users with access cards.

Time attendance management
The time attendance system enables easy monitoring of working hours, provides more specific attendance information (meeting, lunch, etc.) and provides the necessary information about ab-sences and return to the workplace. This way, the system serves various parties like customers, telephone exchange operators, col-leagues and payroll calculation. The time attendance software can be used to handle flexible working hours, shift work, overtime, etc. The information collected can be moved to, for example, external payroll software and documented using various reports.
Project and work phase monitoring
In order to be able to offer software that flexibly suits various ap-plications, we have integrated our software with the Finnish Necom Oy’s Promid software. Thanks to the integration, we can offer a competitive system for demanding applications involving shift work, hour bank, project and work phase monitoring, etc.
The Promid-Hedsam software enables effective monitoring of employees’ working hours and time spent on different projects. Special attention has been paid to the production of payroll data in accordance with collective labour agreements. The system includes ready-made collective labour agreements from various fields (e.g., chemistry, metal and food industry) that can be cus-tomised as necessary.
Clocking in and out takes place using a touch screen terminal with a built-in Hedsam system reader. Clocking stations can also be implemented using both WLAN and GPRS technology, so a fixed internet connection is not necessary. Entries can also be made by SMS using a mobile phone. The Promid-Hedsam software per-forms the necessary calculations and provides diverse reports. The software has flexible connectivity to external software (for example, payroll, ERP and manufacturing execution).
Image bank
The image bank makes it possible to check the cardholder’s iden-tity from a photo. This further increases the level of security during clocking in. If necessary, each access control entry can display the cardholder’s photo on a PC screen using the HedGraphics ap-plication. It can be specified separately for each door whether the person’s photo is to be displayed or not. The actual photo is located on the system’s file server. The image bank can also be used for printing access cards.
Mobile clocking
With the mobile clocking feature, GSM phones can be used as ac-cess cards in the Hedsam system. The Hedsam software can be used to determine the cardholder’s GSM number to correspond to his/her access card, granting the phone number the same rights that have been set for the access card. This mobile feature is very useful for applications like controlling gates and barriers at produc-tion facilities and monitoring hours in remote work.
Hedsam Router is a device that contains a GSM modem. It enables time attendance clocking by SMS and opening doors or gates by either phone call or SMS. The door to be opened and the time to keep it open are specified in the message. Hedsam Router is con-nected to a COM/UDP port on the server or PC.
Registration plate identification, vehicle reader
and parking software
Integration with Mirasys and Asan software enables registration plate identification for vehicles.
By using a vehicle reader and parking software in the Hedsam Novitas system, it can be used to pay for, for example, parking or gym exercise.
Lifts
The use of lifts can be monitored and limited with a card reader installed in the lift cabin, providing different users with access rights to different floors and thus preventing unauthorised access. Alter-natively, a call reader can be installed on each floor that activates the lift call button.
Alarm graphics and door display
The HedGraphics application shows the floor plan of the build-ing, indicating the alarm points and door environments with their controls. The application enables the administration and location of doors, thus facilitating the work of security guards in the control room, for example.
