Administrator’s Corner

Dear Residents,

Recently, I have been asked many times about Mike’s whereabouts. Below is the message he has for everyone:

Hello Residents,

I unfortunately had an unforeseen medical emergency that needed immediate attention. I am doing well and on the mend. I need some time to recover and look forward to returning to work and seeing all of you as soon as I can.

Thank you for all of your well wishes and concerns.

Sincerely,

Michael Hollabaugh

I am sure many of you would like to send a get well card. If you do, please bring your card to the office and I will address and send it to Mike’s home for you. In the meantime, hats off to Scott for keeping the ship sailing while Mike is out.

Have a good July everyone and make sure to get out and enjoy yourselves...

Kathy

The Social Spot

Wow! Can you believe that July is here already? July has always been my favorite month of the year (not just because of my birthday). I have some very fond memories of summertime activities. Whether it was watching the annual Night in Venice boat parade (I actually ran for Miss NIV in summer of 2003) or spending quality time with family at the OC boardwalk/waterpark, there was always a fun activity right around the corner.

What types of activities do you like to pursue in the summer months? Is there something you would like to try, but never got the opportunity? This summer, I invite you to try a new recreational activity. Who knows, maybe you’ll ignite a new passion! Below are some suggestions for new recreational activities.

May your July be as memorable as mine!

This photo highlights my participation in the Miss Night In Venice pageant, circa 2003 (back row). I was delighted to participate in the parade that year! This is a summer memory that I will never forget!

Note from the Wellness Nurse

Welcome to the dog days of summer!! On those extremely hot days remember to dress accordingly, eat sensibly, and stay hydrated. Beware of high sodium foods and snacks that retain fluid and can make you swell. Do not hesitate to use the air conditioner in your apartments and cars. This is not the time to conserve energy. Your comfort contributes to your WELL being.

Due to the sunny, warm, temperatures, we are going to suspend the walk-about Wednesdays for now. If the weather cooperates, continue to walk in the cooler part of the day, early morning or late afternoon when sun is least strong, and humidity is low. Visit the library for free cool air activities or sit quietly and read. Take advantage of summertime only fresh fruits and vegetables such as Jersey tomatoes, peaches, plums, and watermelon to refresh and sustain you. These contain varying amounts of fluid and can be used to prevent thirst and dehydration.

For those of you who would still like to be vaccinated against COVID-19, Cape May County is still offering appointments. Please reach out to me if you need assistance with this.

Please remember to use handrails and assistive devices (such as canes and walkers), and proper fitting footwear when out and about. We will be having a discussion on the prevention of falls in a class to be held on July 29, 2021at 10 AM at the church where we held the vaccination clinics.

Please let me know if you are interested in attending.

Have a great Summer and stay WELL! I will be out of the office from July 22-28 to celebrate a BIG birthday for me. Call the office if you need anything.
