HELLO MY WELLNESS WARRIOR!

I am Nicki Kelly, the Vegan Weight Loss Mentor and I am a passionate health coach with nearly 40 years’ experience.

Welcome to the world I live in. 

Here are nine smoothie recipes that will add a zing to your life. Drink your way to a healthier body, more vitality, and feeling fabulous with every step.

I am guessing that this is why you are here – you want to have more energy, fewer cravings, less bloat, and glow from the inside out!

Say goodbye to diets and to feeling hungry or deprived, because I am giving you the tools you need to ditch the afternoon crash, stop eating your kids’ candy, and avoid hitting the vending machine at 4 p.m.

As a health and wellness coach I specialize in helping busy women

reclaim their bodies, rejuvenate and lose weight the easy way. I am here to guide you towards making the right food choices in order to boost your metabolism and improve your digestion.

SO WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH SMOOTHIES? WHY ARE THEY GOOD FOR YOU?

Smoothies are:

Chock full of vitamins, enzymes and minerals

Easy to digest, which mean optimal assimilation of your nutrients

Great for stabilizing blood sugar (you will see each smoothie here includes a small amount of healthy fat for blood sugar stabilization AND please add some protein powder for improved hunger control and fat burn)

A fabulous way to consume a variety of different fruits or vegetables at one time

Terrific for cleansing the body of toxicity

An easy way to add more fibre to your diet for optimal bowel function

WHY IS BLENDING YOUR SMOOTHIE BENEFICIAL?

The health of your body depends on your digestion. When you blend your foods, you are supporting the digestion process. Your body does not have to work so hard to break down the nutrients as they are in a pre-digestible state.

Did you know that nearly 80% of your energy is spent digesting and assimilating your nutrients? So why not support your body to do less work and use the energy for feeling better?

CHOOSING A BLENDER:

Vitamix is a super-powerful blender with a very strong motor that not only can blend smoothies, but also can make nut butters and even soups; however, it is an investment at around $499.

Blentec is another option similar to Vitamix and costs a little less.

Nutribullet is a great alternative as it costs about $100. It’s my favourite for making single smoothies.

When you support and nourish yourself the right way, you will be repaid with endless energy, a slim and healthy shape and an ageless body.

MAKING THE ULTIMATE SMOOTHIE THE BASICS

1. Choose the liquid – water, coconut water or a unsweetened dairy- free milk

2. Choose your greens – kale, spinach, parsley, Swiss chard, collards or lettuce. You can add a couple of frozen cauliflower florets for an extra ‘creamy’ texture. You won’t taste it! I promise. Or cooked butternut squash.

3. Choose your fruit – banana, apple, berries, pear etc. About ½ a cup.

4. Choose your good fat – hemp seeds, nut butters, ¼ avocado. For fibre: flax or chia seeds,

5. The most important bit: pea or rice protein powder. Use a high quality pure powder. Not a cocktail of processed additives. It helps prevent cravings and hunger. Plus improves the quality of your skin, hair and nails.

6. Superfoods – maca, raw cacao, shredded coconut, goji berries and more

TODAY IS THE DAY TO START MAKING HEALTHY CHOICES

During my various studies I learned the importance of smoothies and now I drink one every day. As you can imagine during the time I’ve worked in this field I was able to study nearly 100 different dietary theories. I read recommendations by respected teachers and leaders such as Andrew Weil, Dr. M. Greger, Mark Hyman, Dr. Roth, Dr. Barry Sears and Deepak Chopra.

And smoothies are a sure way to follow their recommendations of including raw food into your daily regime.

Please add a full serving of pure vegan protein powder to each smoothie for fat burning and hunger control. It should give you 20g protein and less than 5g carbs.

9 AWESOME SMOOTHIES

STRAWBERRY BLISS

1 cup coconut water or almond milk 1/2 cup frozen strawberries

1 Tablespoon hemp seeds

Protein powder equiv. of 20g protein

A GINGERBREAD COOKIE

1 Tablespoon flax meal or chia seeds

Pinch of cinnamon Stevia & Ice (optional)

1 cup almond or coconut milk

1 Tablespoon flax meal or chia seeds 1 Teaspoon cinnamon

1 banana and Protein powder

1 handful of spinach

1Tablespoon of almond butter Ice (optional)

½ teaspoon mixed spice

KIDNEY NOURISHING SMOOTHIE

1 cup non-dairy milk and Protein powder 1⁄2 large cucumber peeled and sliced 1/2 cup fresh/frozen blueberries

1 Tablespoon flax meal or chia seeds Stevia to taste (optional)

1 flat tablespoon nut butter

* Cucumbers are a wonderful kidney cleanser

CRANBERRY SWEETNESS BLISS SMOOTHIE

1 cup unsweetened plant milk 1/2 cup of mixed berries

1⁄2 cup unsweetened cranberry juice 1⁄4 avocado and Protein powder

1 Tablespoon flax meal or chia seeds

1 squeeze lemon

1/2 Teaspoon cinnamon Ice (optional)

GINGER SMOOTHIE

1 cup non-dairy milk and Protein powder 1/2 cup fresh orange juice

1 small banana

1 teaspoons peeled ginger Pinch of stevia & Ice (optional)

¼ avocado

1 small handful kale, hard stems removed

CHOCOLATE BANANA BLISS SMOOTHIE

1 cup almond or coconut milk 1 small banana

1/2 cup kale Protein powder

1 flat Tablespoon nut butter

Pinch of stevia

2 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder or raw cacao Ice (optional) 


MOOD STABILIZER

1 cup almond or coconut milk 1 handful of spinach 1 cup fresh or frozen blackberries stevia + Protein powder 1 Tablespoon chia seeds

1 Teaspoon maca powder 1 flat Tablespoon almond butter

NEED MORE ENERGY SMOOTHIE

1 cup non-dairy milk Protein powder

1/2 Teaspoon cinnamon 1/4 small avocado 1 small banana 1 teaspoon maca

1 handful rinsed spinach 1 Tablespoon chia seeds

MANGO DREAM

1 cup almond or coconut milk 1/4 avocado


1/2 cup coconut water 1/2 cup frozen mango chunks 2 leaves Swiss chard, coarsely

chopped
 Ice (optional)

LIFE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME ONCE YOU BEGIN BOOSTING YOUR NUTRITION WITH HEALTHY SMOOTHIES

Just reminding you again: please add a full serving of vegan protein powder to each smoothie for additional fat burning and hunger control

And don’t forget….You can also turn your smoothies into delicious breakfast bowls. Simply pour the smoothie into a bowl and add your favourite toppings. Like this:
