A Reputation for World-Class

Business Education

Dr. Michael Schaefer

Former German Ambassador to China Member of the MANNHEIM & TONGJI EMBA Program Advisory Board

“ China and Europe are important partners in this new multipolar world of ours, partners who have many com- mon interests, but who are at the same time still sepa- rated by different realities and perceptions. In order to be successful as partners, we must learn to understand and accept how the other thinks, what their values and in- terests are, as well as develop a certain flexibility and willingness to compromise.

I am convinced that the MANNHEIM & TONGJI Exec- utive MBA program, launched jointly by TONGJI-SEM and Mannheim Business School, will greatly contribute towards achieving these goals, empowering managers and future leaders on both sides to make a difference on a state as well as company level.”

Mannheim Business School

The university-based Mannheim Business School is consistently ranked as the best German business school in national and international rankings (e.g. Financial Times, The Economist, Handelsblatt, Wirtschaftswoche) and belongs to the leading business schools in Europe.

It is the only German business school accredited by AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA, the leading associations of business education institutions.

Mannheim Business School’s faculty members have achieved global recog- nition for their contributions to the scientific community, their progressive teaching methods and consulting ex- perience.

The Mannheim region is globally re- nowned for its innovations and quality in research, science and production.

TONGJI-SEM

Tongji University in Shanghai is one of the leading universities directly under the supervision of the State Ministry of Education in China.

Tongji University was founded in 1907. Its first president was Erich Pau- lun, a German doctor. The Chinese and German governments greatly appreci- ate Tongji’s important role in the two countries' cooperation in the areas of science, culture and economics.

TONGJI-SEM is the top Chinese insti- tution of its kind and well known for its excellence in education and out- standing research and is accredited by AMBA.

TONGJI-SEM plays a key role in Chi- nese fund projects and state key engi- neering management programs of the National Economy, such as the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai.

Shanghai’s rapid economic growth, diverse multicultural society and busi- ness-friendly environment have en- abled it to grow into one of today’s most important and most promising business hubs.

Joint Program Development

The philosophy of partnership lies at the heart of the MANNHEIM & TONGJI EMBA program. This is why the Guiding Commit- tee of the program is composed of key rep- resentatives from both schools. In addi- tion, we collaborate closely with leading European and Chinese companies.

Top management representatives of these companies as well as high-ranking officials have joined our program’s Advisory Board.

Together with the Guiding Committee, their function is to set and maintain edu- cational requirements, further develop the program, boost net working opportunities and ensure quality control.
