TECHNICAL SUPPORT NOTE

Upgrade Instructions Zephyr 4.7 (Windows Server Installation)

Audience:

Zephyr Enterprise and Community Edition customers migrating from version 4.1 (Build 6173 or 6212), version 4.5 (Build 6967 or 7195), version 4.6 (Build 7993 or 8411 or 8521) to Zephyr version 4.7 (Build 9213)

System Requirements:

Operating System Windows Server 2008/2012

Windows 7 Enterprise/Windows 8 Enterprise

CPU Dual-core CPU Intel Pentium or AMD Opteron (2Ghz or higher) RAM Minimum 4GB of RAM, 8GB Preferred

Disk Space At least 5GB Free (250GB-1TB recommended for large enterprise installations)

Networking Wired Ethernet Static IP address

Available ports: 80, 443, 8005, 8009, 8010, 2038, 2099, 3306,37638 If Firewall exists, please allow ports: 80, 443, 2099

Account Administrator access to the machine

Installer and services needs to "Run As Administrator"

Software Oracle JDK 7 or JDK 8 (which can be downloaded from here). JRE is not supported.

Tools Required:

• Zephyr version 4.7 (Build 9213) installation file

o Download from http://download.yourzephyr.com/download.php

o This site allows you to download either the 32 bit or 64 bit Windows versions • Zephyr Upgrader Utility

o Download from http://download.yourzephyr.com/upgrader/download.php

o This site allows you to download either the 32 bit or 64 bit Windows versions or Linux version (Linux based installation only supported for Zephyr Enterprise). Select the upgrade utility based on the OS version where Zephyr 4.1 (Build 6173 or 6212), 4.5 (Build 6967 or 7195), 4.6 (Build 7993 or 8411 or 8521) is installed.

We recommend reading this instruction set in its entirety prior to beginning the upgrade process. If you have any questions, please contact our Technical Support team at https://support.getzephyr.com. The time taken to complete the upgrade process is mainly dependent on the size of your Zephyr 4.1 (Build 6173 or 6212), 4.5 (Build 6967 or 7195), 4.6 (Build 7993 or 8411 or 8521) backup but on average, shouldn’t take more than 2 hours to complete.

The process of upgrading your Zephyr On-Premise instance consists of two parts. Once you have a backup of your current Zephyr 4.1 (Build 6173 or 6212), 4.5 (Build 6967 or 7195), 4.6 (Build 7993 or 8411 or 8521) data, you must:

• Verify that the backup file can be migrated to version 4.7 (Build 9213); and then

• Upgrade the 4.1(Build 6173 or 6212), 4.5 (Build 6967 or 7195), 4.6 (Build 7993 or 8411 or 8521) backup file to 4.7 (Build 9213).

Step 1:

• Download the Upgrade Utility titled “

zephyr_4_7_9213_xxbit_upgrader_rev_1473.exe

” (where xx is either 32 or 64) on the server where Zephyr 4.7 (9213) is to be installed.

Take a full backup with attachments. If you are running Zephyr 4.1, Zephyr 4.5 (Build 6967 or 7195), Zephyr 4.6 (Build 7993 or 8411 or 8521), open a command line and run:

backupAll.bat dir-path y. Store this backup file where the Upgrade Utility is located.

Do not uninstall Zephyr 4.1, 4.5 or 4.6(7993 or 8411 or 8521) at this point. Follow steps 2 through 7 to verify the integrity of the Zephyr 4.1/4.5/4.6 backup file.

Step 3: Identify location of the backup file.

Step 4: Upgrade utility confirms installation location of Zephyr (during the verification process, no actual upgrade will occur)

Step 5: Select “Check Mode” to ensure integrity of backup file

Step 6: Click “Next” to begin verification

Once verification is completed, the following dialog box is displayed identifying either a successful or un- successful verification of the backup files. If unsuccessful, view the logs, identify and address the issue or contact Zephyr support for assistance.

• Uninstall Zephyr 4.1, 4.5, 4.6 (Build 7993 or 8411 or 8521) and install Zephyr 4.7 (Build 9213) • Re-launch the Upgrader as Administrator and follow steps 2 though 4

• Select “Upgrade Mode” in Select Mode dialog box to run the upgrade utility

• Click Next to begin upgrade.

The upgrade process will complete a series of steps to migrate your Zephyr 4.1/4.5/4.6 (7993, 8411 or 8521) data to Zephyr 4.7 (Build 9213). Once completed, the following dialog box will be displayed. The time taken to complete the data migration will be dependent on the size of your Zephyr 4.1/4.5/4.6 (7993, 8411 or 8521) data set and could be as short as a few minutes to as long as a few hours.

• If any errors occurred during the migration, they will be displayed in the dialog box along with a link to view error logs. Save this error log and send it to the Zephyr Support team accessible via Support portal https://support.getzephyr.com

• Once the migration has completed, click on the Next button; you will be presented with the final screen shown below. Once logged in, they will be able to access and benefit from Zephyr 4.7’s new feature set. Please have your users follow the Client-side Notes in the Post Upgrade Tasks section.

Post Upgrade Tasks:

Client-side Notes:

When upgrading to Zephyr 4.7 (Build 9213), each client browser will need its complete cache and complete history deleted. Internet Explorer is especially sensitive to its history.

The method to clear the Flash player cache is:

• Go to http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/ settings_manager07.html

• Select “Website Storage Settings” • Press “Delete all sites”

• Restart the browser

All users experiencing the display issue will need to clear their Flash Cache on their browsers

Automation-Notes:

If your company has utilized automation integration with ZBots, you will need to download and install 4.7 ZBots. These can be accessed via the Zephyr Client Logon Screen by clicking on the ZBot image.

Defect Tracking-Notes:

If your company uses JIRA as the defect tracking system, please download the 4.7 version of the JIRA plugin and install it on your JIRA server: http://download.yourzephyr.com/plugins/jira.php

Index Notes:

After upgrading, please re-index your database so that the search functionality will perform as expected. To do so, log in as the test manager, navigate to the Department area, click on the Administration Module, select the Customization Tab and click on the Re-Index button. Note this should be done during a low-use time period as it is a resource intensive process.
