GCSE 2021 – What you will be assessed on

This document contains guidance as to what areas of the GCSE courses you can expect to be assessed on. Heads of Departments have been careful in selecting those areas that best represent topics you have worked through. Where timings have been decided they are suggested below but these are subject to review and should be used as guidance only.

Please consider this to be a ‘working document’ that we are sharing with you. It is influenced by the documents that have come out of JCQ and Ofqual and though we expect more updates from awarding bodies in due course we feel it important you know where we currently are in order that you can best prepare.

Topics for Higher and Foundation topics are listed here with the relevant MathsWatch clips. Assessments will be scheduled for Friday’s lessons dependent on progress through the week. There will be 5 assessments.

Other topics will also be included and covered in class. These include:

HIGHER: Operations with integers, fractions, and decimals (positive and negative), Bounds, Quadratic Formula, Non-Linear graphs, Averages, Fractions, Decimals and Percentages, Area and Volume, Trig values, Pythagoras.

FOUNDATION: Operations with integers, fractions, and decimals (positive and negative), Angles, Compound measures, Pythagoras, Trigonometry 3D shapes, Standard Form, Probability.
