FINAL PROGRAM

Dear colleagues,

Cytoreductive surgery and perioperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy have been endorsed with remark-able zeal by surgeons and oncologists around the world. The existing medical literature provides enough Level I and II data to encourage doctors who believe in the concept of cytoreduction to expand current indications in more cases of peritoneal surface malignancy. National governing bodies on healthcare have approved cytoreductive surgery as the most effective way of treating advanced cancers with peritoneal spread. Guideline issuing international organizations are considering cytoreduction and HIPEC as an option and possibly a standard of care for certain diagnoses. It is now critical for the professionals working on peritoneal surface malignancy, to further standardize the surgical techniques, to strictly adhere to current indications for use and to provide high quality healthcare to patients. The way forward is through standard-ized and demanding education and training.

We invite you to the Workshop on Peritoneal Surface Malignancy that will take place in Athens on 19-21 February 2015. Our aim is to bring together healthcare professionals in the field of peritoneal surface ma-lignancy and study how to improve our practices. Our ambition is to inspire colleagues who wish to start a program and need support and further training.

The Educational Committee of the Hellenic Surgical Society and the doctors of the Peritoneal Surface Ma-lignancy Program of the Metropolitan Hospital, warmly invite you to three days of exchanging experiences and building knowledge.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee,

A.A. Tentes P.H. Sugarbaker
