ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR EXCHANGE STUDENTS

Monday, 17 August 2015

Main Registration Day

On Monday new international exchange students will receive their registration letters and get information on the practical matters connected to becoming an official student at TUT. In the afternoon students will register at the International Office in person.

Introduction to studying at TUT

On Tuesday all students will attend a General Study Information Session where they get to know TUT’s student portal POP and learn how to enrol for courses and exams via the student portal. The day will end with a guided city tour around Tampere.

For the General Study Information Sessions students will be divided into two groups according to the first letter of their family name as follows:

Lecture Room TB 109 (Tietotalo building)

09:00-10:00 General Study Information Session I

Family names A-K

10:00-11:00 General Study Information Session II

Family names L-Ö Tutor groups meet for lunch and a campus tour.

Your tutor will inform you about the time and place.

Meeting point: in Tietotalo building main lobby at 14.45

15:00-16:30 Tampere City Tour (please sign up beforehand)

Study guidance at the faculties/ departments

On Wednesday three faculties will hold a session for new exchange students on study-related matters.

Exchange students are recommended to attend the sessions of all the faculties/ departments they are planning to choose courses from.

Study guidance at the faculties/ departments

On Thursday three departments and the School of Architecture will hold sessions on study-related matters.

Exchange students are recommended to attend the sessions of all the faculties/ departments they are planning to choose courses from. In the afternoon the orientation continues with an introduction to IT

services and security. The sign-up for the courses taking place during the 1st teaching period will close today.

18:00 - 22:00 Campus Scavenger Hunt (Starts from Obelisk, teams of 4-5 people)

You can visit the storage room (SA105 in Sähkötalo lobby) of International Students Club INTO to borrow household items: Monday, 17.08. at 12-14

Registration checklist

Get your registration letter for the Student Union membership fee.

Pay the Student Union membership fee. Remember to use your personal reference number and keep the receipt of the payment safe!

Complete your registration at the International Office

(remember to take your passport and your address in Finland with you)

Pick up your basic user account and password from the IT Helpdesk (Main Building, 2nd floor)
