The following chapter outlines the most important feature improvements of Spider Lifecycle Management LCM+ Version 3.1 when compared to the Columbus LCM+ Version 3.0.

Generally

The LCM+ 3.1 Version is based on the latest "Spider Releases" Core 5.1.13 Asset 5.1.13 Licence 5.1.16 Contract 5.1.11

New features

Main Menu

My Licences, My Maintenance, My Products are displayed in the group “My Licence Work-place”.

Spider Core 5.1.13

 Employee survey results

New is the Employee survey results displayed on the Employee Object (Region 3).

 Datagrid

The data grid on the bottom of the employee has been expanded to include the areas:

 Assets,

 Personal Assets,

 Function Unit,

 Function Unit responsible,

 Licence responsible,

 Maintenance responsible,

 Product responsible and

 Contract responsible

 Legal Entity

Availability of Legal Entity also in the LCM+ Version.

 Asset Services

Asset Services has been completely redesigned. The license calculation has a better per-formance and can now be started also manually.

 Cluster System

Cluster system is a new type of functional unit (FU) and is used to describe a cluster sys-tem.

 Datagrid

The data grid on the bottom of the assets has been extended.

Spider Licence 5.1.16

 Legal Entity

Availability of Legal Entity also in the LCM+ Version.

 Integration of Product Catalog.

When using the product catalog many products and versions are selectable. This acquisi-tion is easier and improves quality.

 Possibility to use the Article Catalog.

The article catalog containing the commercial data of the products, e.g. SKU-No., commer-cial product name, etc. Note: This catalog is a third party product and can be subscribed to.

 Roaming

Roaming can be distributed licensing rights to the underlying business units (Legal Enti-ties). The distribution is done automatically, when the business units are connected and the roaming is activated.

 Licence Allocation

For a conscious distribution license, which is controlled by a manual process, the Licence Allocation function is available.

 Licence Metrics Procedures (LMP)

The following Licence Metric Procedures are integrated:

 Device based,

 Company based,

 Concurrent user based,

 Concurrent-Device based,

 Core based,

 CPU/Processor based,

 Named user based and

 User based.

 Product and Product Version

The graphical interface of product and product version is redesigned.

 Responsible person (commercial)

The responsible person (commercial) may be entered on the object product.

 Responsible person (technical)

The responsible person (technical) may be entered on the object product.

 Compliance

A compliance overview is displayed in the datagrid of the product object.

 Product version

All license-related data were grouped (in Region 2).

 Licence create (standard) or Licence create via catalog

The license can be created directly from the product version site.

 Product version change

With the help of this wizard, licenses can be moved to other product versions.

 Licence

The graphical interface of Licence is redesigned.

 License key

The license key can now be stored on the object license.

 SKU-No.

The name of the field SKU-No. has been changed too Article-No. Article text is a new field.

 New register Additional Info.

In this register you can store information about the responsible person, the reference li-censes and the licence status.

 Maintenance

Maintenance can be created directly from the Licence site.

 Datagrid

The data grid on the bottom of the license has been extended to include maintenance.

 Maintenance

There are two new fields: Article-No. and Article Text.

 Quantity

Quantity is a mandatory field.

 Multi Licences

More than one licence can be allocated too one maintenance.

 Compliance report

Compliance reports can be created in different forms:

 Compliance

 Roaming coverage

 Downgrade coverage

 Basic coverage

Spider Contract 5.1.11

 Spider Contract has the same design as the modules Asset and License.

 Renaming of attributes.

 Language Pack has been revised.

Usage Instructions

The installation can only be done by Brainware or Spider Consulting. This release is not available in the Brainware download area.

Documentation

The user manual has been integrated in the product. At this time only the German documentation 3.1 is available.

1.2

System Requirements

Columbus LCM+ works with SQL server express edition or SQL server full version 2005/2008. The SQL server express edition is part of the delivery.

The Express Edition has the following limitations: maximum 1 CPU (but all CPU cores)

maximum 1’024 MB RAM maximum 4 GB per DB

SQL Server Agent is not available. Columbus LCM Enterprise

The prerequisite for the enterprise version is SQL Server 2005/2008.

Setup

The same Setup is usable for the initial installation, as also for update from the version 3.0. The Setup will be usable only with a valid licence key.

For more information see the installation manual.

Important The update based on a clean LCM+ installation 3.0. On all other installation the setup is not tested and can cause irreparably damage!

The following chapter outlines important information for the migration of existing Columbus Asset+ environments. Please read carefully before installing the release in your production en-vironment.

Before you start

Any software migration brings with it a level of risk. We strongly recommend starting with a Backup from the existing Asset + database.

The installation and migration can only be done by Brainware Consulting or by a Brainware partner.
