PROFILE

Mr. Carney is Chief Technology Officer and practicing digital forensic examiner at Carney Forensics. He has a thirty-year software engineering and information technology career. He was educated at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab where he earned a Bachelors of Science degree. He is a Minnesota attorney licensed in federal and state court with a law firm in St. Paul. He was educated at Hamline University School of Law where he earned a Juris Doctor degree and Certificate in Dispute Resolution. Mr. Carney is a faculty adviser for Century College’s Computer Forensics and Investigative Technology program. He holds an ACE certification in computer forensics.

Carney Forensics is in the business of helping attorneys, investigators, forensic accountants, and corporations find and admit relevant digital forensic evidence from mobile phones, GPS devices, smart tablets, personal computers, electronic documents, web mail, and social media. The firm acquires and analyzes evidence from over 5,000 cell phone models including smart phones. The firm provides consulting services to answer client questions and assist with information interpretation and development of evidentiary strategy. Forensic examiners serve as expert witnesses to get evidence admitted at court. The firm’s clients include criminal defense firms, big and small general practice firms with civil cases, and various Judicial Districts of the Public Defenders in the State of Minnesota.

management products. Led a diverse team of over 100 technology professionals organized into multiple, high performing, small product units. Earned a reputation within the industry for delivering a prolific number of competitive, high quality, well-architected, client/server software products on time and within budget. Intimately involved in major business opportunities and an extended effort to build an indirect channel. Met all quarterly and annual expense measurements. FY95 operational budget was $8.1MM.

Key software developer and designer of UNIX-based business application hosted on a state-of-the-art, multi-window, 32-bit workstation providing advanced graphical user interface and object-oriented integration. Also developed a powerful integrated business graphics application by driving product conception, requirements analysis, functional specification, user interface design, product development, product build and release.

DIGITAL EQUIPMENT CORP., Maynard, MA 1977 - 1980 Senior Software Engineer, CAD Systems Engineering

Served on Comet CAD team that built the VAX 11/750 mini-computer and follow-on products. Designed, developed, and tested CAD post processing systems. Group expert on Basic Language for the

Implementation of Software Systems (BLISS).

COMPUTERVISION CORP., Bedford, MA 1976 - 1977 Programmer, Electronic Systems Software Group

Developed 3-D mechanical computer-aided design software for leading CAD vendor. First in the industry with B-spline and 3-D B-surface technology. Also, wrote PC circuit board design software and systems software. Produced dramatic gains in CAD system performance as part of Rev 8 Speed Team.
