E-Learning Courses

Whether you are in New York, Los Angeles or Shanghai, PMMI U brings interactive, quality online educational opportunities to your desktop 24/7 – when you need it, where you want it.

PMMI has partnered with the University of Florida to develop a series of E-Learning courses focused on packaging machinery basics. Using PMMI’s popular technical training manual series as the backbone, PMMI is bringing the content of these textbooks to life using simulation, video and other interactive media to enhance the learning experience.

Visit www.pmmi.org/pmmiU to view a demo of the course and test drive some of the interactive exercises. The first course will come online early in 2009.

TROUBLESHOOTING INDUSTRIAL MACHINERY – Coming Online Q1 2009

In many ways, the job of the machinery troubleshooter is similar to that of a doctor. Both must identify a trouble spot, find its causes and take steps to correct the situation without causing further damage or difficulty. In addition, both frequently work with a minimum of information and usually need an answer quickly.

When a troubleshooter replaces the wrong parts, he/she wastes time, money and production potential without correcting the problem. Good troubleshooting requires analysis of the problem to find out what is wrong before action is taken to try to make corrections. There is a series of simple questions that any troubleshooter can ask to help find a more direct solution to any problem. This online course will take the student through a series of interactive exercises designed to provide you the opportunity to practice asking these questions and sharpen troubleshooting skills.

Ready to achieve a new level of professional growth and recognition? PMMI U’s Certificates are designed to elevate professional standards, enhance individual performance and designate packaging professionals who demonstrate the skills to be successful in this dynamic industry.

RISK ASSESSMENT CERTIFICATE: MEETING GLOBAL STANDARDS

Risk assessment is now required by the ANSI/PMMI B155.1 standard in addition to the requirement for CE certification. PMMI has responded to this requirement by offering a Risk Assessment Certificate Program. The Certificate is awarded to those who successfully complete the hands-on risk assessment training workshop, held in various locations throughout the year.

Check out www.pmmi.org/pmmiU for the 2009 Workshop schedule.

Program Objective

The 2-day interactive workshop is designed to educate packaging professionals on how to conduct a risk assessment and introduce them to the PackSafe® software. Participants will be able to use the risk assessment process to identify and evaluate hazards and evaluate and reduce the risk associated with the hazard. Participants are encouraged to bring their own examples to be assessed, and after completing the course, will be able to conduct a complete, documented risk assessment.

Packaging professionals will also gain insight into how risk assessment is deployed in an organization, resulting in gaining a com-petitive advantage. The deployment methods used by other PMMI members, along with their challenges and successes are shared.

Who Should Attend?

MECHATRONICS CERTIFICATES

PMMI has partnered with the Mid-Atlantic Mechatronic Advisory Council and several packaging and technical schools to develop a series of Certificate Programs focused on Mechatronics.

Development of the skill standards behind these Certificates is going on now. To take part in the review process, contact Maria Ferrante, PMMI’s director of workforce development at [email protected] or 703-243-8555.

The proposed Certificates are grouped in the four key areas identified as relevant to Mechatronics: mechanical, electrical, controls, computers.

While PMMI U will conduct the skills assessment, through testing and hands-on evaluation, our partner schools will provide the education packaging professionals need to master the skills. This unique industry partnership will allow packaging professionals to earn a nationally recognized Certificate, in your local community in a format that works best for your organization.

SALES CERTIFICATE– PMMI Members Only

PMMI’s best-selling sales training program just got better! By expanding PMMI’s Sales Training course into a complete Certificate Program, PMMI U will help your organization develop lasting business relations with your target customers and existing clients by learning the Sandler System, a proven methodology for building relationships that lead to new business.

This program will support your management team, your front line sales team as well as your service technicians. The long term goal of this program is to provide your team with the tools they need to build an advantage in an ever-increasing competitive global environment. Through consistent industry specific reinforcement and skill development of important sales and sales management concepts, behaviors, attitudes and tactics, your team will grow sales and increase profits.

The available training sessions will be broken into two tracks: Management and Sales

PMMI members can choose from a pre-set learning and reinforcement path based on position, or speak with a consultant to develop a customized learning/reinforcement path against personal and corporate objectives. Members can take any of the sales courses offered on an “a la carte” basis, or as part of a complete program.

Each track will be offered in three phases. Each phase will be accompanied by resources and tools to enhance the learning. Additional support materials will be available to session participants at special PMMI rates.

For more information and an up-to-date workshop schedule, go to www.pmmi.org/pmmiU “In the high tech packaging industry,

skilled workers are critical to the success of consumer packaged goods companies as well as machinery manufacturers. With the help of PMMI's partner schools and packaging experts, PMMI's Certificate Programs will provide needed professional development, enable employers to identify skilled workers and raise the bar in terms of packaging education for the entire industry.”
