1999: Acquisition of Young Digital Poland (27.8%), Poland's leading multimedia company. (In 2001 Sanoma increased its holding to 49%.)

2004: The majority of Young Digital Poland shares (55.1%) was acquired

2004: Acquisitions of the educational publishers Malmberg (The Netherlands) and Van In (Belgium)

2005: Sanoma Pro (then called WSOY Oppimateriaalit, formerly WSOYpro) was carved out of WSOY and became an independent company

2006: Acquisitions of NTK, a Hungarian educational publisher and Perfekt, a Hungarian vocational training company

2008: Acquisition of Nowa Era, a Polish educational publisher and owner of Vulcan, provider of school management systems

2010: The remaining 44.9% of Young Digital Planet shares were acquired

2011: Tammi Oppimateriaalit was acquired and merged with WSOYpro. In November 2011 the company was renamed Sanoma Pro

2011: The Swedish educational publisher, Bonnier Utbildning, was acquired and the company name changed to Sanoma Utbildning.
