StoneFly SCVM

TM

for ESXi

The StoneFly SCVM Software-Defi ned Unifi ed Storage (SDUS) is a Virtual IP Storage Software Appliance that creates a virtual network storage appliance using the existing resources of your virtual server. This virtual IP storage platform for VMware ESX and ESXi environments provides an advanced, fully-featured iSCSI SAN and NAS within a VMware virtual machine. You will no longer need a separate box for your storage. Create networked IP storage along with your server virtual machines, all on the same hardware platform. Increase productivity, simplify management, and reduce power and rack space requirements while using SCVM with your existing hardware.

By creating a StoneFly iSCSI Target within a VMware virtual server, customers may reallocate existing hardware resources to create a business continuity and disaster recovery solution. StoneFly synchronous mirroring within the datacenter and distributed campus, along with asynchronous replication between remote facilities enables instant disaster recovery and eliminates loss of access to storage during disasters. Of the available data optimization technologies, data deduplication offers the greatest potential to deliver substantial and recurring impact on the cost and manageability of data growth. StoneFly’s optional deduplication technology provides optimized data deduplication for increased storage effi ciency, allowing users to fi t 5x to 137x more data (depending on the data mix) within the same storage footprint with minimal impacts to overall performance.

Other premium services for SCVM installations include StoneFly’s hardware-enabled block level AES 256 volume encryption, thin provisioning with space reclamation, NAS (support for NFS and CIFS protocols), Scale Out NAS, as well as VSS support for databases such as Microsoft Exchange and SQL.

The StoneFly SCVM lowers operational data-center costs and provides a quick RTO (Return to Operation) in the event of a local site failure. In essence, the StoneFly SCVM gives you the ability to create your own “DR Site in a box”.

If you are looking for all of the functionality of a network storage appliance, but lack of budget and space precludes purchasing new hardware, StoneFly SCVM is the only solution you need.

SCVM instances can be clustered to transform your existing server storage into a clustered storage system that is managed as a single SAN. This allows you to use all of VMware ESX’s advanced features that need shared storage. You can use SCVM to provide storage to multiple servers without disruption and you can also increase the storage as needed with no downtime. Easily installed onto any VMware ESX or VMware ESXi server, StoneFly SCVM provides server and storage consolidation with data protection and disaster recovery into a single platform while reducing capital expenditures and operating expenses by shrinking your footprint, reducing power and cooling consumption and simplifying management.

Add StoneFly Storage Concentrator Virtual Machine (SCVM) to your VMware ESXi Server and the possibilities are endless! Reduce your CapEx and OpEx by optimized utilization of servers and storage. Installing StoneFly SCVM for ESXi creates an even more dynamic datacenter by adding these advanced services:
