8 IMPORTANT HINTS & RESTRICTIONS
8.1 GENERAL
8.1.1 SW-GENERATION LICENSE
• For the upgrade from Release 6.0 to Release 6.1 no new software generation license is needed.
11 | Release Notes MiVoice Office 400 Release 6.1 - HF1 depl-2601 / 1.1
• Customers upgrading from Release 3.0 or lower must consider especially the important hints in the Release 3.1 Release Notes.
8.1.2 SCHEDULED UPGRADE FROM OLDER THAN RELEASE 5.0 (LOAD LIC FILE IN
ADVANCE)
• Since Release 5.0 the licenses are stored in a license file
(file name structure: EID-of-the-system_name-of-the-system_X_yyyymmdd.lic). From the SLS you will get the known license sheet as PDF and the new license file. • To perform a scheduled upgrade from older systems than Release 5.0 to Release 6.1, you
must copy the license file into a new created directory on the file system. - Before the upgrade create a subfolder “lic” in the folder “…/data/” with
WebAdmin > Maintenance > File management > File browser - Refresh the file browser to see the new subfolder
- Import the new license file into the folder .../data/lic - Proceed with the SW upgrade as usual.
- The system will find and read the new Release 6.1 licenses when starting up with Release 6.1.
8.2 MIVOICE OFFICE 400 AS VIRTUAL APPLIANCE
8.2.1 NEW OVA/VHD PACKAGES WITH RELEASE 6.1
• The new OVA/VHD 2.0.0 / 8966a1 version contains important security improvements. • All new systems must be installed with the OVA/VHD 2.0.0 / 8966a1 version.
• Upgrading existing systems from Releases deployed with OVA/VHD version 1.5.0: - Release 5.0 – HOTFIX5 1.5.0 / 8854a1
- Release 5.0 – HOTFIX6 1.5.0 / 8855a1 - Release 5.0 – HOTFIX7 1.5.0 / 8855b1 - Release 6.0 – GA 1.5.0 / 8930b1 - Release 6.0 SP1 – GA 1.5.0 / 8944b1 - Release 6.0 SP1 – HOTFIX1 1.5.0 / 8944c1 - Release 6.0 SP1 – HOTFIX2 1.5.0 / 8944d1 - Release 6.0 SP2 – GA 1.5.0 / 8947a1 - Release 6.0 SP2 – HOTFIX1 1.5.0 / 8947c1 - Release 6.0 SP2 – HOTFIX2 1.5.0 / 8948a1 could be upgraded using the mlx....zip package provided.
• Due to security reason we recommend reinstalling all existing system with the OVA/VHD 2.0.0 / 8966a1 version.
• Upgrading existing systems which have been deployed with older OVA/VHD version than 1.4.0 to this version must be reinstalled with the Release 6.1 OVA/VHD package 2.0.0 / 8966a1.
- For an AIN install the virtual appliance master first with the R6.1 software and load the backup files, then upgrade each satellite manually (in offline mode). As soon the satellites are starting up with the R6.1 release, they will connect to the Master. • Important:
After restoring a backup of the Virtual Appliance you need to

8.3 SMB CONTROLLER MIVOICE OFFICE 400
Please refer also to the Release Notes Mitel SMB Controller 1.2.4.5 (depl-2597) for more details.
8.3.1 USER BASED LICENSING FOR SMB CONTROLLER
• The user-based licensing concept requires user licenses assigned for each user with an attached terminal (users with just virtual terminals or no terminals do not need an user license).
• The assignment of an user or basic user licenses is done on demand after loading a new license file or automatically after each restart of the system.
8.3.2 NO AIN LICENSES NEEDED FOR SMB CONTROLLER
The SMB Controller doesn’t need an AIN license (Mitel Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN) and
Mitel AIN Satellite). This is the same concept as it is with the Virtual Appliance and Mitel 470.
• A SMB Controller is always a Master, but some AIN relevant features are hidden until the first Satellite is registered (e.g. PSTN overflow).
• A Satellite needs no license to run in Online mode, except if VoIP encryption is used. The
Secure VoIP license must be on each node of an AIN.
• A Satellite runs for 36h in the license free offline mode, if it was once registered to a master system.
8.3.3 GETTING STARTED
Please read the chapter Getting Started of the system manual syd-0657_en: MiVoice Office 400
13 | Release Notes MiVoice Office 400 Release 6.1 - HF1 depl-2601 / 1.1
System Search does not support to find a SMB Controller. Please check Search for the
communication server in the IP network in chapter Getting Started / Put into operation.
The SMB Controller is delivered with a pre-installed Mitel Embedded Linux Controller SW, but without the MiVoice Office 400 application software installed.
Please read chapter Upload and install the MiVoice Office 400 application software in chapter
Getting Started / Put into operation.
8.3.4 SUPPORTED CARDS
Check the system manual syd-0657_en: MiVoice Office 400 SMB Controller, chapter 3.3.2
Interface cards about the supported cards. For some type of cards older hardware versions are
not supported.
Not supported cards are not visible under Cards and modules in MiVoice 400 WebAdmin. Do not add unsupported cards like ODAB at all, hardware may be damaged.
8.3.5 LAN PORTS
Connect the LAN to the network interface eth0 because the other eth1 ... eth3 are not supported.
8.3.6 CRASH LOGS
Crash logs of the MiVoice Office 400 Controller and Mitel Embedded Linux Distribution can be downloaded in the SMB Controller Manager (port: 8080) under:
• Maintenance > Diagnostics: Core dump files
8.3.7 CHANGING OF IP- AND TIME- SETTINGS REQUIRE RESTART OF CALL MANAGER
IP and Time settings must be configured in the SMB Configuration Manager. After a change a restart of the Call Manager is required.8.4 SECURITY ENHANCEMENTS
8.4.1 IMPROVED WARNINGS FOR 'COMPATIBILITY MODE' FOR TLS V1.0
As of Release 6.1 TLS v1.0 is only required for Mitel 6700 SIP. The Mitel Dial R2.1 is compatible with TLS v1.2, which is the default setting.Warnings for the Compatibility mode for TLS v1.0:

With Release 6.0 and newer the procedure to setup an AIN has changed:• The EID and IP address of each Satellite must be configured on the master system (Mitel 430, Mitel 470 and SMB Controller).
• This is the same concept as for the Virtual Appliance.
• After upgrade of a Mitel 430 or Mitel 470 master to Release 6.1, the EID and IP addresses of the satellites must be configured manually on the master as well.
• After adding the IP addresses for the Satellites on the Master a restart of the Master is necessary.
• The ports for the Link Handler for AIN must be routed bidirectional on the firewall
8.6.3 TELEWORKER OVER MBG 10.1
The following features are not supported on the Teleworker phones:
16 | Release Notes MiVoice Office 400 Release 6.1 - HF1 depl-2601 / 1.1 • Teleworker as Free Seating phone
