CHAPTER V. CONCLUSION & RECOMMENDATION Conclusions
1) The existing strategy to implement OH guideline and approach is by strongly committing to have harmonious relationship that started by mutual cross-sectoral trust (specifically during AI and anthrax outbreak).
2) There are barriers for OH adoption such as unsupporting regulation, formal governance, lack of funding, sectoral ego, and lack of technical capacity from relevant sector that need to be more involvement (environmental health).
3) The enablers are strong commitment from each sector, the pre-existing harmonious relationship, the close relationship with reference national laboratory and university (specifically during AI and anthrax outbreak).
4) The feasible intervention that need to be considered for the district/local government to formalize a working group or committee for zoonotic diseases.
This intervention is expected to provide appropriate and clear-cut responses for detection, prevention before and during the outbreak of infectious diseases. This formal committee or working group will also expected to work on neglected zoonotic diseases that still lingering in Kulon Progo district. Cross-sectoral meeting for joint-program and funding allocation should be taken into the discussion, to provide better planning and execution of the program to tackle public health issues, specifically zoonotic diseases (both NZDs and EIDs).
Recommendations
The study provides insight about the barrier and challenges to adopt OH guideline at the district level, especially regarding zoonotic and emerging infectious diseases in Kulon Progo. Another recommendation is to conduct cross-sectoral OH mentorship program, and if culturally possible using reverse mentorship approach.
