The HP Ethernet 1Gb 4-Port 331T Adapter features the next generation of Ethernet integration, offering a single chip solution that reduces power requirements and optimizes I/O slot utilization. It delivers full line-rate performance across all ports with low power consumption.

The HP 331T is ideal for virtualization, security, server consolidation, network segmentation, and other applications requiring maximum throughput and port density. The total aggregate throughput of 8Gb meets the needs of customers desiring high bandwidth.

The HP 331T supports advanced features such as Large Send and Receive offload capability, TCP checksum and segmentation, VLAN tagging, MSI-X, jumbo frames, IEEE 1588, and virtualization features such as VMware NetQueue and Microsoft VMQ.

The HP 331T adapter provides 2,000 Mbps full duplex Ethernet transfer rate per port (8 Gbps aggregate full duplex) delivers outstanding network performance that improves response time and removes bottlenecks. Four ports on a single adapter are ideal for high density, I/O slot constrained servers, virtualization and security, applications, server consolidation, and increased network segmentation. The total aggregate throughput of 8Gbps in full-duplex mode also meets the needs for customers desiring high bandwidth but are not yet ready to move to 10 Gigabit Ethernet.

NOTE: Port enumeration on the 331T is from the top down, i.e. the port near the top of the adapter is port #0 and the port closest to the gold teeth is port #3

Jumbo Frames The 331T adapter support for jumbo frames (also known as extended frames) permits up to a 9K byte (KB) transmission unit (MTU) when running Ethernet, which is over five times the size of standard 1500-byte Ethernet frame. Jumbo frames can help achieve higher throughput and better CPU utilization and are particularly useful for database transfer and tape backup operations.

MSI and MSI-X Up to 17 Message Signaled Interrupt (Extended) provides performance benefits for multi-core servers by load balancing interrupts between CPUs/cores

802.1Q VLANs IEEE 802.1Q virtual local area network (VLAN) protocol allows each physical port of the HP 331T to be separated into multiple virtual NICs for added network segmentation and enhanced security and performance. VLANs increase security by isolating traffic between users. Limiting the broadcast traffic to within the same VLAN domain also improves performance.

TCP/IP Stateless Offloading

For overall improved system response, the 331T supports standard TCP/IP offloading techniques including:

TCP/IP, UDP checksum offload (TCO) moves the TCP and IP checksum offloading from the CPU to the network adapter.

Large send offload (LSO) or TCP segmentation offload (TSO) allows the TCP segmentation to be handled by the adapter rather than the CPU.

HP Sea of Sensors 3D Support for HP Sea of Sensors 3D Technology which is a collection of 32 sensors that

automatically track thermal activity - heat - across the server. When temperatures get too high, sensors can kick on fans and make other adjustments to reduce energy usage. What makes it better is the upgrade from all six fans kicking on at one time to a new system where only one kicks on - the one in proximity of the area that started heating up - thus reducing the amount of energy used for cooling.

ProLiant Network Adapter Teaming provides fault tolerance and load balancing across a team of two or more network adapters. The team of adapters works together as a single virtual adapter. Network Management

Auto-negotiation The HP 331T automatically senses the speed of the device to which it is attached. It also automatically configures for full duplex, depending on the duplex mode of the switch, hub, or router connected to the adapter.

Management Support Like all HP server adapters, the HP 331T ships with drivers and agents that can be managed from HP Systems Insight Manager, as well as using any other management application that supports SNMP. HP Systems Insight Manager can recognize the HP 331T individually or in teams, and can collect and report SNMP statistics on the adapter events.

Server Integration The HP 331T is a completely integrated, tested, and qualified solution that is optimized for HP servers. HP validates a wide variety of major operating systems drivers with the network drivers plus provide a central interface to simplify network management.

Configuration Utilities Each HP 331T ships with a suite of operating system-tailored configuration utilities that allow the user to enable initial diagnostics and configure adapter teaming. This includes a patented teaming GUI for Microsoft Windows operating systems. Additionally, support for scripted installations of teams in a Microsoft Windows environment allow for unattended OS installations.

LED Indicators The colored LEDs on each port of the HP331T adapter indicate network activity, and network link speed. Amber link LED indicates 10/100Mb speed and Green indicates 1000Mb link speed. Per port bracket LED indicators show link integrity, network activity, and network speed for easy troubleshooting.

PXE boot Support Support for pre-boot execution environment (PXE) enables automatic deployment of computing resources remotely from anywhere. It allows a new or existing server to boot over the network and download software, including the operating system, from a management/ deployment server at another location on the network. Additionally, PXE enables decentralized software distribution and remote troubleshooting and repairs.

For ProLiant servers and storage systems, this service covers HP-branded hardware options qualified for the server, purchased at the same time or afterward, internal to the enclosure, as well as external monitors up to 22" and tower UPS products; these items will be covered at the same service level and for the same coverage period as the server unless the maximum supported lifetime and/or the maximum usage limitation has been exceeded. Coverage of the UPS battery is not included; standard warranty terms and conditions apply.

The defective media retention service feature option applies only to Disk or eligible SSD/Flash Drives replaced by HP due to malfunction. It does not apply to any exchange of Disk or SSD/Flash Drives that have not failed. SSD/Flash Drives that are specified by HP as
