The School of Welding Engineering Technology at

the Kirkland Lake Campus keeps building on its

international reputation as a leader in the field of

welding education and training. Northern’s School

of Welding Engineering Technology was the first in

North America to become an Authorized Training

Body for the International Institute of Welding

(IIW).

A satellite Trades Centre in Moosonee, linked to

the Centre of Excellence for Trades and Technology

at the Porcupine Campus, provides high-skills

training in technology, trades and apprenticeship

programs to the James Bay coastal communities.

Students come from across Ontario to study

in the new Veterinary Sciences Centre at the

Matters

Our students bring special talents and abilities, motivation to succeed and reach their

goals, and a desire to better themselves and their communities…money should not be

an obstacle to their dreams.

Northern College Foundation, with assistance from the Ontario Trust for Student

Support and numerous generous donors, has established bursaries to help students

who could not otherwise afford the full cost of their postsecondary education.

Northern awards several hundred thousand dollars per year in bursaries to students at

all campuses.

Applying to College

Applicants to Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology

must submit an application form and are encouraged

to do so online at www.ontariocolleges.ca

receives and records applications and student responses

to college offers of admission. The non-refundable application fee of $95.00

(subject to change) must accompany the application. Your application will not

be processed by ontariocolleges.ca unless the application fee has been paid to

ontariocolleges.ca.

application service, may apply to college online. If an applicant’s school has not

registered for this service, he or she must apply by telephone to

These programs require a field work component. When placements are not available in your own community, alternate communities will need to be considered. You are responsible for all placement-related costs, such as travelling. All course work must be successfully completed prior to field work placements.

A dress code is in effect during all lab sessions and field work. To be eligible for field work, you must not have been convicted of any criminal offences for which you have not been pardoned. An unpardoned criminal record will result in an inability to participate in the field work placements and will prevent you from graduating.

You will be required to undergo English language skills assessment during the first week of school. Support services are available if you need assistance.
