Please allow me to begin this week’s newsletter like we closed last week’s newsletter. With a word of thanks. This past Sunday the church honored my wife and me with a Pastor Appreciation Gift of $200 and a card. We want to thank each of you for being so kind to us this month. Some of our church family have placed cards in the basket to let us know how much you love our family. Both of us (Cindy and myself) are honored to serve the King of Kings with you at White Oak. We love you!
“There are three requisites to the proper enjoyment of earthly blessings: a thankful reflection, on the goodness of the giver; a deep sense of our own unworthiness; and a recollection of the uncertainty of our long possessing them. The first will make us grateful; the second, humble; and the third, moderate.” Hannah More
On Saturday, some in the church family ventured out for our monthly community outreach. One person accepted the Lord as their Savior this past Saturday. Hallelujah! We rejoice that God is still inviting people into His family. Soulwinning still works!! Let’s beg God to use us in these Laodicean days. While the 21st-century church (as a whole) may be lukewarm; that doesn’t mean our church is lukewarm. Let’s pray for a flame to burn so bright in our hearts that our friends and neighbors will see us on fire and want to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord.
“Every Christian is either a missionary or an impostor.” Charles Spurgeon
Next week the church will host the annual Fall Harvest Festival. This is a huge event that grows bigger every year. (at least until Covid). Many of our neighbors and friends will join us Saturday (the 30th) to celebrate this time of year. I encourage each member to listen to last Sunday’s message to reinforce why we do not celebrate Halloween. It has evil origins and maintains that dark, wicked attraction. We will be glad to send a copy of the message to anyone who requests it.
BTW-I didn’t mention it Sunday, but there is no such thing as a good witch. All witchcraft comes from Satan!
The church has rented several inflatables (riding bull, slide, etc.) and will serve hotdogs. We also have several smaller games for the younger children to play. But we do need members who will manage the games. We still need someone to help with the:
• Football Target Toss
• Mini Golf
• Ring-A Goal Basketball
• Food Station
• Face Painting
• Pick Up the Duck
• On the Farm Toss
• Crazy Can Alley
• Soccer Kick
Please consider volunteering to help with one of these games.

When it comes to the coming events, I am going to be a little repetitious the next few weeks. But the goal is to make sure everyone is aware of the big days for our church.
November 7th-The church will celebrate our 134th Homecoming*. Rev. Tim Stout will help us celebrate by preaching in the morning service. Remember the service starts at 10:00 with lunch in the F.L.C. The Leadership Team suggested asking Parkers Barbecue to serve the meal. Praise the Lord!! The restaurant will also make sweet tea for the event. Ladies, would you mind making a dessert? Also, please sign the sheet in the foyer if you plan to come to the luncheon. It helps the church plan how much food to purchase from Parkers.
Each year the church takes a special offering that will be used to help the church ministry. This year the Leadership Team has would like to designate the offering for the Bailey Christian Childcare. Specifically, the money donated will help build a privacy fence around the playground, pay to install the playground equipment, purchase playground surfacing (mulch), and repaint the ceiling in the needed areas. These are very expensive improvements, and we are asking everyone to pray how you can help meet these needs. Our goal for the Homecoming offering is $25,000. Thank you in advance for your prayers and partnership.
White Oak Hill will also give a tribute to all the members who went to their heavenly home the last few years. We will present a PowerPoint slide during the service. Would you look at this list and see if a forgetful preacher is missing someone?
• Rudell Massey (June 4, 2020)
• Nellie Verrichia (September 5, 2020)
• Glenda “Faye” Wells (December 13, 2020)
• Annie Earp (December 27, 2020)
• Bobbie Lamm (February 25, 2021)
• Mary Lou O’Neal (March 8, 2021)
• Pattie Gay (April 7, 2021)

• Georgie Lamm (August 8, 2021)
November 14th- The church will host a special Veteran’s Appreciation Day service to honor all the wonderful men and women who have served in the armed forces.
This Sunday the church will hold its 3rd quarter business meeting. You know I like to call these family meetings. It’s a wonderful time that our church family can gather to rejoice and remember God’s goodness to the church. During this meeting, we will review the 3rd quarter budget. God has been so good to us!
Next month the Leadership Team will meet to discuss the church budget for 2022. We will also talk about next year’s church workers and teachers. We realize the last 20 months have been very unusual. The pandemic has thrown so many off their normal routine. Let me encourage everyone to ask the Lord where you can make an eternal difference. Don’t just sit on the sidelines watching people make a difference. Be a difference-maker!!
