3.2.2 RAN2922 functional description
The RAN2922: Control Channel Interference Cancellation feature introduces interference cancellation for UL Control channels namely DPCCH and HS-DPCCH. With HSUPA Interference Cancellation features RAN1308 and RAN2250 interference caused by 2ms TTI HSUPA UEs are cancelled. Essentially, interference caused by DPDCH,
E-DPCCH and E-DPCCH of 2ms UEs is cancelled. Control Channel Interference
Cancellation (CCIC) feature enhances this further by cancelling the interference caused by DPCCH and HS-DPCCH of 2ms, 10ms HSUPA UEs as well as Rel99 UEs. With this all UEs receive DPDCH/E-DPDCH on the cleaned residual stream.
3.2.3 RAN2922 system impact
RAN2922: Control Channel Interference Cancellation interdependencies between features and impact on system performance and capacity
Interdependencies between features
The RAN1308: HSUPA Interference Cancellation feature must be enabled before activating the RAN2922: Control Channel Interference Cancellation feature. Impact on interfaces
There are no impact on interfaces.
Impact on network management tools
The RAN2922: Control Channel Interference Cancellation feature has no impact on network management tools.
Impact on system performance and capacity
The RAN2922: Control Channel Interference Cancellation feature increases UL cell capacity and UL throughput due to reduced UL interference.

Key performance indicators
If cell traffic is Voice/HSDPA (UL DCH) dominated with small to medium number of E-DCH users (HSUPA), with CCIC the UL throughput of EE-DCH users is increased. This gain can be seen on related KPIs such as HSUPA MAC-es data volume at RNC [kbit] and active HSUPA cell throughput.
The following legacy KPIs related to cell throughput and user throughput cover the benefit of the feature:

3.2.5 Activating RAN2922
Instructions to activate the RAN2922: Control Channel Interference Cancellation using the BTS Site Manager.
Before you start
The license of features, RAN1308 and RAN2922 should be ON. Install the feature license:
• License name: Control Channel Interference Cancellation
• Feature code of the license: 0000030504 • License type: On/off license
This feature activation is controlled through BTS long term On/Off license. Preconfiguration:
Ensure that the RAN1308: HSUPA Interference Cancellation feature is enabled before activating of the RAN2922 Control Channel Interference Cancellation feature:
• RAN1308: HSUPA Interference Cancellation
The benefits can be further increased by utilizing the following features:
• RAN3040: IRC Receiver
• RAN2250: Enhanced HSUPA IC • RAN3044: Uplink CoMP
Procedure
1 Open the BTS Site Manager.
2 Go to the Commissioning interface.
3 Configure the PIC pool for Local Cell group, which belong to the Flexi Multiradio 10 BTS.
4 Check the Control channels interference cancellation in use field to enable the RAN2922: Control Channel Interference Cancellation feature at the BTS.
Figure 1 RAN2922 activation window
Expected outcome:
On setting the control channels interference cancellation in use field then the
cchicEnabled parameter is activated on the PIC cells in the PIC pool within Flexi Multiradio 10 BTS.
Unexpected outcome:
On modification of the cchicEnabled parameter is unsuccessful then the Control Channel Interference Cancellation feature is disabled.
g
Note: The CCIC cannot be activated in the PIC pool within FSMr2.3.2.6 Verifying RAN2922
Procedure
1 Compare the uplink throughput related KPIs before and after the feature activation.
Expected outcome
Uplink cell throughput is higher when RAN2922 Control Channel Interference Cancellation is activated. The achieved gains are dependent on the traffic profile. For further information, see section Key performance indicators.
3.2.7 Deactivating RAN2922
Instructions to deactivate the RAN2922: Control Channel Interference Cancellation feature using the BTS Site Manager.
Procedure
1 Open the BTS Site Manager.
3 Uncheck the Control channels interference cancellation in use field to disable the RAN2922: Control Channel Interference Cancellation feature at the BTS.
Figure 2 RAN2922 deactivation window
4 If there is no PIC pool configured in the Flexi Multiradio 10 BTS then cchicEnabled is not allowed to set from BTS SM.
Expected Outcome
On deactivation of the parameters cchicEnabled, the CCIC is deactivated on the PIC cells in the configured PIC pool within Flexi Multiradio 10 BTS which results in
deactivation of the RAN2922 Control Channel Interference Cancellation feature. Unexpected outcome
The RAN2922 functionality remains enabled.
