To Our Valued Customers,

As I reflect on a year that gave me a few grey hairs, I can say that I am grateful and have never been more appreciative of being able to live a farmer’s life.

We have made it through a year filled with medical stress, fires, elections, cultural crisis, and digital overload…all of which have aged my 35 year old mind so that I want to slow down and not miss the little things that bring joy. We have had high points. Our boys are experiencing the traditions of farm life. They helped keep the greenhouses standing on those cold snowy nights followed by the fun of a tractor made 15ft snowman. The challenges in life and our world aside, I am feeling more at peace with life by focusing in on the joyful things in life. My time is being filled with

growing trees, landscaping, killing weeds in the yard, and gardening with my wife. I have never felt more present with family.

The improved outlook on life overflowed to our nursery life as well. Our crew balanced the challenges in their lives with getting the jobs done at Ekstrom Nursery. They met every challenge by digging deep and finding a way to accomplish each task. I have a goal for everyone to come to work with a smile, have a sense of accomplishment at the end of each day, and leave with a smile as they head home to their families.

I’ve never been more pleased to see our plants ship out than this year. Pleased not because of the extra complications of shipping things out, but because it was fulfilling to send our trees to renew landscapes and lift spirits in new places. We finished strong thanks to an amazing group of people…my wife, parents, our farm team, and you.

We have a crew that I am so proud of, a family that makes life valuable and work worthy of the effort, and a Heavenly Father who knows where we have been and where we are going. Every day that God gives me, I’m going to make the most of it by growing my heart for people and growing the plants that we enjoy on our walks. I find outdoor walks more fun than a treadmill going nowhere.
