Visual Networks® offers two Visual UpTime® Select™ server solutions to meet your organization’s needs. Please click the link below to view the required hardware specifications for each Visual UpTime Select Server solution:

Single-Processor Server: Enterprise Solution

Ideal for the enterprise customer that requires a single domain or support for up to 1000 ASEs.

Tower Rack-mount

Dual-Processor Server: Service Provider Solution

Designed for service provider environments that require more than 15 domains or support for up to 8000 ASEs.

Visual UpTime Select Server Hardware Warranty Information

When you purchase a Visual UpTime Select Server solution from Visual Networks, it includes a three-year limited hardware warranty that is supplemented with three years of standard next-business-day, on-site parts, replacement and labor. For more information, please refer to Dell’s website at http://dell.com and search on Bronze NBD Basic Response service.

To activate the Dell agreement, you must transfer ownership of the Select server from Visual Networks to your company. Dell offers the convenience of completing this transaction on-line. Here’s how:

ƒ Access Dell’s customer support on-line at http://support.dell.com ƒ Select Customer Care.

ƒ Select Update Information. ƒ Select Transfer of Ownership.

ƒ Complete the information requested on the form.

ƒ Enter the Dell Service tag number of your Visual UpTime Select server.

Visual UpTime Select Single-Processor Server

These are the minimum specifications for a new single-processor server for Visual UpTime

Select. The specification is intended for new customer purchases. ASE Support: Up to 1,000 ASEs

Domain Support: 1-15 Domains Total Objects: Up to 5,000 objects

Monitor: 15” SVGA

Computer: Dell 2600 server or equivalent with Intel Xeon 2.8 GHz single processor or

higher with 512KB cache minimum. Redundant power supply included.

Footprint: Tower

Mouse: 2-button, Windows compatible (e.g., Logitech or Microsoft) Keyboard: 104 Key, 6-pin

Memory (RAM): 1GB minimum CD-ROM: 12X SCSI

Modem: Internal 56kbps PCI

Disk space: Dual 73GB SCSI drives, 15K rpm minimum, 320MB/sec speed minimum,

attached to embedded PERC-4/Di, RAID 1 (mirrored)

Floppy disk: 3.5” 1.44MB internal

Tape backup: Internal 100T DDS4 20/40GB or DLT 40/80GB tape drive

Ethernet card: Internal NIC (10/100/1000) plus second adapter (dual-port Ethernet 100) Remote Control Software: Windows Terminal Services

Select. The specification is intended for new customer purchases. ASE Support: Up to 8,000 ASEs

Computer: Dell 2600 server or equivalent with dual Intel Xeon 3.2 GHz processors or

higher with 512 MB cache minimum. Redundant power supply included.

Footprint: Tower

Mouse: 2-button, Windows compatible (e.g., Logitech or Microsoft) Keyboard: 104 Key, 6-pin

Memory (RAM): 4GB minimum CD-ROM: 12X SCSI

Modem: Internal 56kbps PCI

Disk space: Six (6) SCSI Ultra 320 drives at 146GB minimum each, with PERC4 embedded

RAID 10, internal only, 128MB cache minimum, 10K rpm minimum. No drives in media bay (media bay holds internal tape drive).

Floppy disk: 3.5” 1.44MB internal

Tape backup Internal 40/80GB DLTVS80 (PowerVault 110 or equivalent)

Ethernet card: one (1) 10/100/1000 or higher on system, plus one (1) Intel Dual Port

10/100 NIC and one (1) Intel Dual Port Gigabit adapter (a minimum of five 10/100 ports is highly recommended).

higher with 512KB cache minimum. Redundant power supply included.
