Dear Guidance Department:
The Junior League of Orange County, NY, Inc. is pleased to announce that we will once again be awarding our annual President’s Scholarship for Volunteer Service. The Junior League will award two scholarships, each in the amount of $1,000. The criteria for the scholarship are below:
Female student who is graduating from High School
Current resident of Orange County
Entering an accredited college in the Fall on a full-time basis
Involved in women's/children's issues as a volunteer
Enclosed is the application for this scholarship. We ask that you make copies of it as necessary and please encourage all students who are eligible to apply. In addition to this paper copy, an electronic version is accessible through our website at www.jlocny.com
Please remember that an official copy of the student’s transcript must be attached and that
incomplete applications will not be considered. Completed applications must be postmarked no later than April 17, 2015 to the address on the application. We will award the recipients at our June 1, 2015 General Membership Meeting.

Mission Statement:
The Junior League of Orange County, NY, Inc. is part of an international organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
The Junior League of Orange County reaches out to women of all races, religions or national origins who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to voluntarism.
Scholarship Eligibility / Criteria:
Female student who is graduating from High School
Current resident of Orange County
Entering an accredited college in the Fall on a full-time basis
Involved in women’s / children’s issues as a volunteer
Scholarship Application Instructions:
1. Review eligibility requirements above 2. Complete page 2 (basic application)
3. On a separate piece of paper, answer each of the following questions. Each question should be answered on one page of paper or less.
Describe how your time spent in volunteer work has enhanced your life. What has it taught
you? Include any leadership roles/positions you have held.
How do you see yourself benefiting/serving your community once you complete this
degree/program?
4. Obtain and attach three letters of reference
5. Attach high-school transcript and transcripts for any post-high school college credits you may have obtained up to this point
6. Send completed application, two completed essays, letters of reference, and transcripts to the address listed at the footer of this page.
Miscellaneous Information
(2) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to two recipients selected by JLOC. This scholarship is non-renewable. All applications must be postmarked by Friday, April 17, 2015. Late and incomplete applications will not be accepted. All applications should be sent to the following address:
