School is a strange place at the moment, whilst the children are still working hard, producing some fabulous pieces of work and enjoying their learning, the summer term is usually packed with a wide range of events and activities. The huge difference to this time last year, is that we now have the children in school. This means we will try to do all that we can so that they do not miss out on many of the summer term experiences. As mentioned in previous newsletters restrictions have not changed a great deal in schools, and as the country tries to find some normality we will continue to be as stringent as we can, to avoid having to close bubbles and a return to home learning. Whilst we still have to close bubbles to all close contacts, activities across bubbles and for parents will unfortunately remain limited throughout the summer term – the last thing we want is for families to have to miss out on holidays through self-isolation, after attending an event at school. We will, of course continue to review our policies and procedures on a regular basis and update our families via these newsletters. I thank you all for all of your support and positivity, I hope that all of our families, staff and governors have a lovely half term break.
COVID during half term
We ask that families continue to inform us of any children who display COVID symptoms and/or have to take a PCR test during the half term break. A positive case, especially before Monday, may mean that we need to contact the Local Outbreak Response Team and follow Test and Trace procedures. This should be done by emailing the school office –
[email protected] COVID symptoms
As COVID restrictions continue to be lifted and the national situation seems to be improving it remains vital that families are familiar with the signs of COVID-19. Children must not attend school if they have any of the following symptoms and you should organise for a PCR test to be taken as soon as possible:
• A high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
• A new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
• A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
Other symptoms which may be linked to COVID-19 infection: • Loss of Appetite
• Sore Throat
• Extreme Tiredness
• Sneezing
• Headaches
• Diarrhoea (must be clear of symptoms for 48hrs before returning to school)
• Joint Pain or Muscle Ache
• Vomiting (must be clear of symptoms for 48hrs before returning to school)
• Nausea
• Runny Nose or Congestion

Our PHSE theme, across the school, next half term will be

children may wish to discuss with parents/carers further, at home. Please follow the
link
for further information.
School Photographs
The deadline for all Oak and Willow photograph orders is Sunday 30
thMay.
Reporting illnesses
I would like to remind all families that should you need to leave a message on the school phone number, to inform
us that you child will not be in school due to illness, in the current climate we ask that you also give a short
explanation of the illness. This is so that we can offer any further support necessary/appropriate. All messages
should be left before 9:30am.
European Day – Friday 11
thJune
To coincide with the start of
Euro2020
we will be holding a European Day on Friday 11
thJune. On this day the
children will learn about a range of countries, their languages, foods and traditions. We would also like the
children to dress in something that represents a European country of their choice. This could be the colours of a
flag or kit, items that are associated with a country or even some traditional costumes! As always, we do not
expect families to purchase items especially for this day, creativity is the key!
Forest School & PE kit
The half term break is the ideal opportunity to check your child’s school kit. At this time of year, we find that many
of our children have grown and their kit has become too small, often becoming uncomfortable and/or impractical.
Please take 5 minutes to check, whilst also checking that all items still have a name clearly visible.
Village Hall car park
Please ensure that all families leaving our school site, by the ‘bottom gate’, keep to the yellow path when walking
through the Village Hall car park. This is for the safety of you, your child/ren and those using the Village Hall.

Everyone else in the household must also isolate for 10 days from onset of symptoms (or the date of the test if
asymptomatic). This 10-day period will be reset for every positive test of onset of symptoms.
