The CARAVANE collective
offers documentary and social
photo-graphy that shows human experiences and realities. Since its beginning three years
ago, it enriches itself with encounters and territories that revealed themselves near
and far.
Freewheeling, the curiosity of the seven photographers pushes them to cross
bounda-ries to meet bits of the world. Their images are the logbook of observations,
encoun-ters, discoveries of microcosms, territories and identities, stories and ways of life that
they try to understand and transcribe, respectfully and authentically.
Through spontaneous collective exhibitions or in partnership, the photographers of
the collective share their images and wish to exchange with the largest public possible,
with multimedia projections and publications in Belgium or elsewhere. Stemming
from press, political science, marketing, accountancy, graphic design or multimedia,
the CARAVANE photographers lead and manage their projects entirely by themselves.
“There are stopover times in backyards that bring us to a new world, and far away
jour-neys that bring us back to us. The very far and very near interests us so much because
it gives the space for words through image and puts together pieces of a puzzle made
of fragments of humanity.”
