"St. Augustine says: 'If you should ask me what are the ways to

God, I would tell you that the first is humility, the second is humility and the third is humility.' Thus, as we begin the sacred

season of Lent, I think it is essential that we pray for the gift of humility as we strive to embrace the call from the prophet Joel: 'Return to the Lord your God with all your heart.' ”

- Bishop Burbidge

Reflection

"'Love covers a multitude of sins.' (1 Peter 4:8). You know what else it covers? Toy flotsam. Mismatched shoes sprinkled across floor. Dust bunnies. And a disheveled, imperfect hostess. We live in an image-obsessed culture, and we often use everything from the decor of our homes to the meals we cook as benchmarks of our success. Our culture's expectations for success and happiness are pushed so high that the simple beauty of an ordinary community gathering is lost and we feel ourselves or our homes are too inade-quate to share with others. Jesus is hungry for the humble over the fussy. He invites us to love simply and to give Him - not Instagram - the glory. Sometimes Jesus is asking less from us; less of all that stuff that doesn't really matter means more of Him and His love doled out to others on one imperfect paper plate at a time." - Kate Wicker

FIRST CONFESSIONS 2021: Saturday, March 20, 11:00am. First Penance Walk-through: Sat, March 13, 11:00am.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION MASS 2021: Saturday, May 1, 11:00am. Mini-retreat & rehearsal TBD.

CONFIRMATION 2021: We are happy to announce that Bishop Burbidge will visit us on Wed, Octo-ber 6, 2021, at 7pm, to seal our Confirmation candidates with the Gift of the Holy Spirit.

On the Second Sunday of Lent, we hear Mark’s account of the Transfiguration of Jesus on the moun-tain, when Peter, James, and John beheld the Lord in the radiance of His divinity. Today’s collect there-fore prays that that Christ “nourish us inwardly by your word, that, with spiritual sight made pure, we may rejoice to behold your glory.” Comparing the theophany of the Father and the Spirit in both the baptism of Jesus and at his transfiguration, St Thomas Aquinas teaches: “Just as in the baptism, where the mystery of the first regeneration was proclaimed, the operation of the whole Trinity was made manifest, because the Son incarnate was there, the Holy Spirit appeared under the form of a dove, and the Fa-ther made himself known in the voice; so also in the transfiguration, which is the mystery of the second regeneration, the whole Trinity appears - the Father in the voice, the Son in the man, the Holy Spirit in the bright cloud; for just as in baptism he confers innocence, signified by the simplicity of the dove, so in the resurrection will he give his elect the clarity of glory and refreshment from all sorts of evil, which are signified by the bright cloud” (ST 3.45.4 ad 2).
