COVID-19 Updates/Precautions

This year’s race is operating under extraordinary circumstances. We all need to do our part to keep ourselves, and each other, safe. Below are additional safety measures we have put in place for this year’s race:

● Athletes will start with time trial starting in groups of 10 to help spread out athletes. (heats will be staggered by 1 minute, and finish times will be updated according to heat start time)

● Additional areas to clean hands with hand sanitizer will be available.

● Athlete support will be allowed at our Start/Finish line aid station (always permitted) and at the Garst Family Farm (Lake) aid station (previously not permitted).

● Athletes will be given a buff at packet pickup. Athletes will be required to cover their mouths when interacting with volunteers and entering/exiting aid stations either with the race buff or approved face covering.

● Volunteers will be given gloves, buffs and additional face coverings and will be required to wear them when interacting with athletes.

● All food will be served single-serving style. No buffet style bowls of food.

● Volunteers and RD’s will be a lot less "hands on" (may not be able to fill water bottles or wrap feet). While this may appear as less friendly, it is to protect our volunteers and our runners.

● Pre-race temperature check

● Athletes will be expected to sign an updated liability waiver that includes adhering to our policies regarding our precautionary health measures.

Crew Information

Cup-Free Race

This is a cup- free race. We will not have cups for water at aid stations. We are doing this to cut down on trash we produce. Conditions will likely be VERY hot and VERY humid. You must bring at a minimum a handheld to put fluids in.

Cut-Off Times

If you do not start the Blue Loop by 3 p.m., you may not continue. This goes for both 50k and 50-mile runners.

Course Maps (GPX)

Course Markings

Each loop will have color-coded flags with reflective tape for each respective loop. There will be Red, White and Blue flags depending on which loop you are running. The flags will be on your right hand side.

(8)

In some cases there is two-way traffic, so they could be on BOTH the left and right. Turns will be marked with two flags, signs and trail markings. The trail system also has very vibrant trail signs that are highly reflective.

Drop Bags

Drop bags are permitted at the River House aid station. Runners of the 50k will pass through at least 3 times. Runners of the 50 mile will pass through at least 5 times.

Dropping Out

Please notify us if you are dropping out. You can call/text either Mike or Greg at any time. Racer safety is a top priority and if you fail to notify us then we need to send someone out to look for you!
