PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS

Fundamentals of Payroll BUCE

This is the fi rst of a two-part series which leads to a national certifi cation as a payroll professional. The course prepares students for the Fundamentals of Payroll Certifi cation (FPC) examination. It is intended for new payroll professionals and anyone who is in the payroll industry. The program provides a comprehensive overview of the laws and regulations that aff ect payroll. Students gain practical knowledge with "hands-on" activities. Textbook included.

Project Management Exam Course BUCE

CPA Exam Review (ONLINE) BUCE

This comprehensive CPA Exam review program is a four-part exam preparation program to become a Certifi ed Public Accountant. Child Development Associate (Online) EDCE

This certifi cate program in Childcare and Education allows you to earn your national Child Development Associate (CDA) certifi cation, while working at your own pace in a fl exible, self-directed online learning environment. This self-study CDA program meets the 120 clock hours of professional development required by the Council for Professional Recognition in order to obtain the National CDA credential. Creating Web Pages with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and JQuery CTCE

This is a beginner course that introduces basic HTML coding and JavaScript programming with JQuery that are used by web browsers. JQuery is a library used for dynamic manipulation of HTML, CSS and web page content. JavaScript is a programming language needed to use libraries such as JQuery. Learn about variables, expressions, objects, functions and basic programming structure. Learn to hide, show, and animate content based on mouse and keyboard interaction. Discover how to use web development tools to debug and test programs. See how JQuery is used in form validation to send and receive data to and from a web server via AJAX. Prerequisites: Experience or the ability to get acclimated to using web browser development tools and Dreamweaver “code” editing. Textbook available at the RVCC Bookstore.

AutoCAD I CTCE

This class provides a guided, hands-on environment to learn the basics of AutoCAD. This course is an introduction to basic CAD (Computer-Aided Drafting) techniques using AutoCAD software. Fundamentals of drawing and editing are presented and practiced. Class size is limited. Textbook available at the RVCC Bookstore.

AutoCAD II CTCE

Students continue the guided hands-on environment to learn the intermediate concepts of AutoCAD. This course is a continuation of AutoCAD I. Discover techniques of layering and advanced editing. Prerequisites: AutoCAD I or equivalent knowledge and keyboard profi ciency. Textbook available at the RVCC Bookstore.

Basic Auto Body COCE

This course is designed to incorporate all aspects of surface preparation, paint safety, refi nishing materials and refi nishing fundamentals. Gain instruction on the application of urethane enamel, base-coat and clear-coat refi nishing systems. Learn shop safety practice and how to use hand and power tools. Safety goggles, steel-toed shoes and paint spray respirator are required.

Basic Auto Body Refi nishing COCE

Students are instructed in the proper use and maintenance of the spray gun, refi nishing panels and fenders, spot repainting of panels and fenders, and mixing paint formulas. Application of primers, sealers, single stage, and coat and clear-coat is presented. Students learn how to identify structural components, properly separate spot welds, and position and weld new body panels in place. Prerequisite: Basic Auto Body or permission of instructor. Safety goggles, steel-toed shoes and paint spray respirator are required.

Intermediate Auto Body Refi nishing COCE

This course encompasses all areas of surface preparation, damage repair, and refi nishing procedures that are necessary for achieving proper panel and overall refi nishing and blending techniques. Students acquire safe work habits in refi nishing and correct automotive detailing procedures.

Carpentry I COCE

This course will focus on the hands–on aspects of residential carpentry. This will allow the students to experience actual framing methods while using the hand and power tools of the industry. Students should come prepared to work with safety glasses. Hand and power tools will be available for use. This course covers the building materials used in construction work including lumber, sheet materials, engineering wood products, and structural concrete. Prerequisite: None

Carpentry II COCE

This course will focus on interior treatments such as drywall, interior trim and window and door installation. While developing advanced skills, power tool safety and use will be reviewed. This is a hands–on course so students should expect to wear appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment. Prerequisite: Carpentry I or instructor permission.

Environmental Control Technology (HVAC/R)

Technician

Knowledgeable HVAC/R Technicians are in high demand. Businesses are “going green.” Homeowners want to shrink their heating and cooling bills, and new technology is rapidly making any HVAC system from a few years ago just too expensive to keep. The U.S. Department of Labor expects this explosion of cost-eff ective HVAC systems for homes and businesses to create over 90,000 new HVAC Technician jobs by 2020.

Master the skills and design theory of today’s cutting-edge heating and refrigeration industry and launch your career as an HVAC/R Technician. Someone has to design climate controlled systems, and/or install, repair or maintain thousands of units soon. It might as well be you.
