Guess What? February
Meeting is Canceled!
Thoughts from Addy!
I was hoping that we would be getting together by now, but it is more
important that everyone is safe! Therefore, we are canceling our February meeting and moving it to April 10. It will be what was originally planned for February, sponsored by Area 3, which is at 9:00 a.m. at Coloma
Friends Church.
At the end of the meeting, I would like to meet briefly (30 minutes) with the Executive Board members. Of course, this is the plan as of right now. It is subject to change!
Have you been finding ways to enjoy your holidays and the somewhat modified life we are living currently? I am very lucky to live near my family! They keep me busy and sane! I even had the opportunity to Zoom with some college friends in December. It wasn't the best way to meet, but we were able to include a sorority sister from the state of New York that many of us had not seen or talked to for years! So, it just shows that there are some positives that have happened during the year. I hope that you have been able to find those too.
Miss seeing you all! Best Wishes,
State Mid-Winter Zoom Meeting
January 9, 2021
By Sue Weber
As most of you probably do not know, but I am on the State Nominations Committee for Indiana State Organization for DKG. One of my responsibilities is to attend meetings throughout the year. I attended the Zoom meeting on January 9.
One of the topics discussed and will be voted on at the June State Conference is to combine the Councils from 12 to 5 At the present time, our Council 10 consists of Beta Psi (Clay County), Beta Eta (Terre Haute) and Alpha Alpha (Parke and Vermillion Counties) If the rule passes, we will be in the South West Council. The good news is that when we need to plan a
conference of convention, there will be more chapters to help. There will be approximately 300 members in our council. The bad news is that we will have to hostess the event more often and it will involve a bigger area. The best news is that we are DKG members and educators who are flexible and able to embrace change!

Health News
We were sorry to hear that Elaine Albers is recuperating from a heart attack this week. Perhaps you would want to send her a card.
Elaine Albers 1720 S 5th Street

Hannah Graham’s daughter, Amelia (nicknamed Millie) is 6 months old and growing up too fast! Millie had a wonderful first Christmas and enjoyed tearing open her gift bags. She loves food and any animal that will come near her. Millie is not a fan of shoes on her chubby little feet. She is going to start crawling soon, then Mom and Dad will be in trouble!
In Hannah’s other news, they have finished building their new home on the east side of Terre Haute just in time for Christmas! They have 33 acres that are home to two beavers, many deer, and a bald eagle, which is a frequent guest. Hannah feels very blessed this year.
Sandee Frey sends her greeting from Covington. She and Tom had received their first COVID vaccine and hopes the second one goes as smoothly as the first.

Books Read (or listened too)
Sue mentioned sharing books that we have read. I think that is a great idea! I like to get ideas from others. Besides always having a book to read available (either real or on my Kindle or Libby apps), I have been listening to them. I listen when I do housework, when I walk, and when I am in the car. Some narrators are really good, some not so much, but that's okay as I get used to them after a couple chapters. You can get books online to read or to listen to through your library membership. You need your card number and a
password. The librarians can help you with getting the information, then, you go to the OverDrive or Libby Apps to check out books (just like going to the Library). Anyhow, here are a few books that I liked.
Fiction:
"The Book of Lost Names," by Kristin Harmel. (Set in WW2 in France.) "Room," by Emma Donoghue
"The Turn of The Key," by Ruth Ware (also "In a Dark, Dar Woods)
"Never Have I Ever," by Joshilyn Jackson
"Imaginary Friend," Stephen Chbosky (somewhat Stephen King like)
"The Woods," by Harlan Coben
These are also Fiction and somewhat light reading mysteries:
"A is for Alibi," by Sue Grafton (Kinsey Milhone series)
"Back Spin," by Harlan Coben (Myron Bolitar series)
"Edge of Evil," by J A Vance (Ali Reynolds series)
"Memory Man," by David Baldacci (Amos Decker series)
Hope you this gives you some ideas! Addy
