3 This manual is intended for computers with Windows operating system, how to prepare the

computer to work with eID.

1.

Card Reader drivers installation

We recommend that you completely read this entire manual before installation begins. During installation may be required to restart computer. Recommend timely save all works and close opened applications.

1.1 Unpack the Smart card reader and the supplied accessories.

1.2 With a USB cable, connect the Smart card reader with the connection on Your computer. During installation, the installation must be free from any Smart cards.

1.3 After connecting, the computer will recognize the equipment and will offer to install the driver on Your Smart card reader. These steps may not be required on the computers where such devices have been installed on:

Computer prepare to work with eID card

2.1 When the installation of Smart card reader is completed,you need to download and install the eID middleware (https://www.eparaksts.lv/en/eid-card/downloads/eid-card-middleware/), which is necessary to be able to sign using eID card. Select the appropriate middleware for your

operating system.

2.2 Run the downloaded program and start the eID middleware installation by pressing button "Tālāk"

2.3 Press the button "Tālāk".

5 2.5 To start the installation, click "Uzstādīt".

2.6 After the eID middleware installation you will be prompted to complete the installation by restarting computer, select "Jā, pārstartēt datoru tagad" and click "Pabeigt".

3. Certificates installation using Internet Explorer

It is recommended to use the latest version of the browser, as it will facilitate the installation of Basic certificate.

3.1 Select the root certificate (https://www.eparaksts.lv/en/Assistance/downloads/basic-certificates-for-smart-cards/), download it and clicking on the downloadable file, at the bottom of browser, choose „Open”.

7 3.3 To install the selected file on your workstation, you need to press the "Install Certificate ... ".

3.4 In this installation step, you need to press the "Next" .

8 3.6 You will receive a notification that the certificate will be installed after the completion button is

pressed. You must press the” Finish”.

3.7 After a successful installation of the certificate, you will get on the notification. You must press the "OK."".

Repeat all of 3.1. to 3.7 step with the other two certificates - policy and issuing certificates. After installing the certificate may need to close and re-open the browser.

4. Authentication

4.1 Trying to authenticate, appear below shown the image, and press „OK”.

Trusted sites

If you still can not authenticate on web sites using the eID card, may need to add to trusted sites list site eparaksts.lv or any other site.

For example, you need to add to the list of trusted sites eparaksts.lv, then open browser Internet Explorer and go to eparaksts.lv.

5.1 Open browser, then choose Tools →Internet Options.

5.2 Choose „Security”, click on „Trusted sites”, then press on „Sites”

5.3 Automatically in field Add this website to the zone included site,where the user is located, in this case https://www.eparaksts.lv and press "Add".

11 5.4 Now site eparaksts.lv is included to the Trusted Sites list, and then click "Close".

5.5 Press „OK”.

eSigner

6.1 Download eSigner

(https://www.eparaksts.lv/en/eid-card/downloads/esigner/), open downloaded program and click „Run”.

6.2 Choose „Install”

eSigner successfully installed and ready to use.

SignAnywhereFree

6.1 In order to successfully install SignAnywhereFree, it requires Java Runtime Environment version 6.0 or later (probably on your computer

already have one installed, then skip steps from 7.2 to 7.6), and it can be

downloaded here: http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp .

6.2 Click „Free Java Download„.

6.3 Choose „Agree and Start Free Download” and on the bottom of browser will appear the downloaded update.

6. eSigner and SingAnywhereFree installation

To be able to sign using eID card, needs to be installed eSigner or SignAnywhereFree. Program eSigner works only on Microsoft Windows operating system, but SignAnywhereFree works on Microsoft Windows and Mac OS.

13 6.4 Choose „Install”.

6.5 Installing the latest version of the Java Runtime Environment:

6.6 After successful installation, you will see notification shown below and press "Close".

14 6.7 After installation of Java Runtime Environment, it is necessary to

download SignAnywhereFree

(https://www.eparaksts.lv/en/eid-card/downloads/signanywherefree/), probably be asked if you really want to save SignAnywhereFree, select the "Keep".

15 6.9 Read the license terms and select "Piekrītu".
