Pink Cadillac Senior Sales Director

Katie Oney

I began my Mary Kay business in February of 2003. I was a Freshman in College studying Elementary Education and had three part time jobs. I had used the Mary Kay products for as long as I can remember, I loved when my family had fun parties so I could

play and see what was new. I had no idea that it would end up being my #1 choice of career for my life and my family!

When I first began I was worried that I was too young, that people wouldn't take me seriously and that... well... I didn't know anything about running a business. I saw the amazing vision that this company gives to each of it's Consultants. I saw the possibility for a route to truly live my dream life, to be a work from home Mommy. I had faith in the company and my leaders that they would teach me everything I needed to know in order to create a business to reach my goals. I found comfort and great

respect in the principals and priorities of our company; always putting God first, family second and career third. At first I was a very small thinker, I wanted to do this just for fun and get the discount on

my personal products. I then noticed how much fun it was to share the products and that I was making money along the way! Throughout college at Western Michigan University I continued to share and found that I was making enough to pay for my apartment, bills and groceries! Not bad for a

full time college student!

After I attended my first Mary Kay Seminar in Dallas, Texas the dream was placed in my heart to become a leader in this company. I was sharing the opportunity with other women and loving the momentum of team work! Giving

other women the opportunity to use this business to create their dream life is such a blessing. I became a Sales Director on June 1st, 2005. Being a Sales Director is incredible, as I now act as a business coach to our amazing

Cadillac Consultants. I am continually holding parties and doing facials with my own customers for my own personal business. The ability we have to dream, plan and act is a choice we have each day. I believe that there is a

huge amount of untapped potential inside of each woman, a "sleeping giant", if you will. My greatest joy is to walk along side of women on their own MK journey and celebrate and coach her to be her very best!

In 2006 I married Jeff, my best friend and high school sweetheart, then got hired as a First Grade Teacher. I worked as a First Grade and Kindergarten Teacher for five years, which I loved. I love building people! (big or small:)) My son Colin was born in 2010, which changed my entire life. I realized that I wanted to follow my heart and be home with him. I stepped away from my career in education to pursue my business full time. This business can be whatever you need it to be whenever

you need it! It's all about planning and action.

I absolutely love the lifestyle that we have created for our family. Being a work at home mommy teaches my children lessons each day that are "caught" not "taught". We now have two sweet children;

Colin and Makenzie. I love building my business each day and directing the future of our family spiritually, emotionally, physically and financially. My husband has also had the opportunity to follow

his heart and quit his job as an Athletic Trainer and go back to school to become a Physician's Assistant. What a blessing it is to have our Mary Kay earnings supporting our entire home! In my career I have earned six free career cars, our most prestigious being our current car, the Pink

Cadillac! Our unit works with daily excellence, passion and purpose. I am so honored to lead this group of women! My highest commission check has been over $8,500 in one month.

What I value most about my business is the ability we have to truly listen to thedream that God has placed inside of our hearts and live it out loud. Passing that gift onto others to me is priceless.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I stay motivated?

__Attend your weekly meeting. Miss 1 your business is sick, 2 it is dying, 3 it is dead.

__Make sure to download the App “Voxer” on your Smart Phone and listen to the recordings! __Listen to the CD that came with this packet. Ask me for more when you are ready!

__Remember you become like the 5 people which whom you spend the most time. I would be honored to be one of the 5. Follow me on Social Media.

How do I stay focused and manage my time?

Start shifting your thoughts regarding time. There are 168 hours in a week. This is the equivalent of a 4 ‘traditional’ work weeks. If you want $300 profit per week, you will need 6-8 hours of Mary Kay time each week. To earn a MK car and move into leadership, you will

need 15 hours each week.

__Purchase a 3-5 section spiral notebook or a 3-ring binder with sections (You may also use an iPad/Tablet, provided you keep it with you at all times).

*Section #1- Master Weekly To Do List (from this we will pull 6 items per day) See Sample List on next page.

*Section #2- Prospective customers, hostesses and team members *Section #3- Notes from all your meetings and trainings

How do I develop a clientele?

You will build your client base the same way as beauticians, nail techs, doctors, and other professionals do. The begin with family and friends, develop a good reputation,

and word spreads.

Use Section 2 of your spiral notebook to create your potential customer, hostess & team member list. To help you gain perspective on how many people you have in your WIDE circle of influence, think in terms of creating an invitation list to a large church

wedding. the average large church wedding in America sends out 150 family invitations, which encompasses 300-450 people inside those households. Don’t limit yourself geographically (we do not have territories), not by how often you interact with

that person. Start with your inner circle of friends and expand from there. If someone is in your phone or a social media friend, they should be on your list.

After your Inventory Arrives…

___ Label your inventory with your product labels, especially skin care and skin supplements. (Order the labels with the business kit from MK Connections.) I do NOT recommend putting labels on products that would be defaced by a label such as lipstick tubes, most color cosmetics and fragrances.

___ Use your name and address stamp to stamp all Look Books, Beauty Books and team building materials.

___ If you have extra funds, consider the following inventory cases from MK Connections:

___ A fishing tackle box(from Bass Pro, Meijer, or other fishing supply store) is perfect for eye shadows, blushes etc. Also good for samples. Take your product items with you to the store to check fitting.

___ Organize and store inventory both on office shelving and in carriers that you are taking to your appointments. Product can safely be carried in car trunk except in times of extreme heat or cold.

Launch Party Details…

I am so excited to be assisting in your launch party! Here are some details to help you with what

you will need and how to set it all up! Here are my Top 10 ideas to rock out your event!

Invite guests until you have 6-10 confirmed guests.

Watch your starter kit DVD for cute ideas on set up.

Print out meeting makeover guidelines attachment to see party set up for each guest’s make-up

tray.

Get $20 in cash and coins to make change if needed.

Mark up your datebook so I can see when you want me to book parties.

Keep treats SIMPLE and ask a close friend/family member to serve for you so you can stay close

to me for training.

If you have your inventory, make a fabulous display where guests can see it to generate

excitement for cash and carry.

3 days prior to event, pre-profile the confirmed guests. Check out

www.marykayintouch.com

,

click business tools, party central, then “before the party” and you will see coaching the hostess

and guests tips. When pre-profiling, it is SUPER IMPORTANT that you ask each guest to

PLEASE listen to a 20- minute recorded opinion call of your director’s Mary Kay story. This is

an important step in getting a new team started! Whoo-hoo! When your guests listen before the

party, they will receive a gift of some sort (your choice, ask me for ideas if you need them). The

number is (641) 715-3900, access code 88674#

Videos. This will help you create what guests will need at a party. It will also help you create the

80/40 hostess special hostess packets.

Coaching your Hostess

“If attitude determines 97% of a person’s success, then follow-up is the remaining 3%” ~NSD Linda Toupin “A party worth booking is worth coaching” ~Mary Kay Ash

Ideally it is BEST to privately facial a hostess a few days or a week prior to her party, especially if she has never had a facial or isn’t currently using MK products. This helps you know what product she wants to earn and what gift she will choose for her PERFECT HOSTESS GIFT ($250 sales/2 Bookings and 2 Guests listen to

the Hotline)

Preliminary Coaching

Some coaching will be given verbally during the debut, however, you will want to follow-up with each guest 24-48 hours after your debut to:

(Refer to your hostess in all conversations as ‘YOUR BUSINESS PARTNER’)

___ Review the guest list she gave you during the debut. Encourage her to invite 10 per party. If she gives you 30 names, that is 3 separate parties. When she invites 10, an average of 6 will attend.

___ Give her enough Party Invitations to send to all the invited guests.

___ Explain the hostess program to her again. Talk about what she may want for FREE ___ Give her the words to say when she invites her guests

___ Give her 5 order forms and ask her to take orders from 5 people who cannot attend her party. ___ Coach her on refreshments. Keep it simple, or if she loves to entertain, let her be extravagant. ___ Send her a thank-you note in advance appreciating her for helping you in your business.

___ Talk with her as if she is already one of YOUR TOP HOSTESSES preparing her to be honored in your unit’s quarterly hostess program.

For our ‘tech savvy consultants’ whose hostesses are all about the internet and social networking:

* www.marykayintouch.com

*Click on Business Tools (at top of page)

*Click on Party Central … Great tools to work with your hostess online.

(14)

New Consultant Checklist #5

Before your First Party or Facial…

___ Travel with your recruiter and/or director to view one of her parties

___ Review the Instructors Guide and practice your Skin Care presentation by rehearsing in front of a mirror. (You might review your Start Something Beautiful DVD again.)

___ Practice setting up your table display and trays. “You never get a 2nd change to make a first impression. When a guest walks in to your party she should go ‘WOW!’ when she sees how professional and pretty your table looks.” NSD Linda Toupin

___ Color coordinated placemats or tablecloth or both

___ Dark colored wash cloths are preferred over facial cloths

Want to win a guest over? Allow her to lay her head back in her seat, drape a slightly hot wash cloth over her face just before she removes the cleanser. Trust me she will love you and your products.

___ Roll-up Bag for display and close

___ Acrylic Caddy with products you are sampling

___ PERFECT HOSTESS GIFTS in center of table (Gifts of your choosing)

$250 in Sales, 2 Bookings and 2 guests listen to Hotline ___ Individual Goodie Bags for each guest should include:

Washcloth, headband, mirror with tray, disposable mascara wand, eye and lip applicators, Look Card, Profile Card

___ Thank-you gift for hostess in beautiful MK paper gift bag with tissue ($1.00-$2.50/item)

___ Hostess uses a brush set and mineral eye colors

From Me to You

Katie

My Recruiter and Senior Sales Director, Cheryl Clark

My National (JoAnn Cunningham) and Me at my first Seminar

Mary Kay Ash never created a make-up

company. Instead she developed the perfect

company for women based on a certain set of

values & principles. The cosmetics came later.

The Mary Kay culture attracts women who share the same values: *Faith and family come before career

*Women should be praised to success.

*We do not need territories, because we will not take someone else’s customer.

*We will honor the Golden Rule & treat others the way we want to be treated.

It has been my experience for 12 years that Mary Kay is a tool, a vehicle to discover and use one’s god-given talents. In doing so, you discover your passion. Once you find your passion, it will lead to your life’s purpose. that is my prayer for you.

The Mary Kay experience may be something as simple as gaining self-confidence in life skills (public speaking, organization, delegation, prioritization, money, time & attitude management) or something as profound as

deepening your self-esteem (your feeling of self-worth, not connected to skill). Either way, I can promise you that by surrounding yourself with MK women, events, communication and philosophies your life will be GREATLY enriched.

While I am interested in your financial success (the dollars you sell and the people you add to your team), I am equally interested in the person you are becoming on this journey through life.

It has been said our life is like a box of puzzle pieces that was put out on our coffee table of life. Each day, we turn over the pieces, but we don’t have the box top, so we don’t know what picture we are constructing. Mary Kay and myself are now a part of your life, and YOU are a part of mine.

I am honored to be your mentor and leader.
