Materials: iBeam or Promethean and ActivInspire
Procedure:
Project one page of SOL Daily Practice. Each student should solve the 4 problems. Have students discuss their strategies and solutions in small groups and then with the whole class. Students should check and correct (if needed) their individual work and make notes as appropriate.
The discussion of the problems and student strategies is the most valuable aspect of the review activity. Be sure to allow time for this process.
Differentiation Strategies:
Some (all) students can work in pairs to solve the problems.
Students can be assigned (or volunteer) to present their solutions to the class. Students can be asked to look for different strategies for solving a given problem. Students can re-write a problem using their own words.
Manipulatives, calculators, and other tools can be provided as needed.
