3 Year Warranty (Extensively tested products and high quality ISO-approved manufacturing)

Product Highlights

15200

Key Advantages

Configurable to over 5TBs of data storage in a 3U rackmount with a cable-less design for higher reliability. Robust Data Protection

- Predictive Data Migration (PDM), PerfectRAID, Battery backup, Drive Roaming Metadata (DRM), Media Patrol

Industry Standards Compliance

- Management: WBEM, SNMP and XML

- Host interface: iSCSI

- Architecture: Controller and backplane compliant with SATAII cabling and connector standard to ensure off the shelf interoperability

Compatibility

- Promise’s 80%+ market share in ATA RAID provides the foundation of extensive drive and OS compatibility

- Extensive qualification of third party iSCSI initiators, switches and backup software

Modular architecture – The VTrak 15000 series of RAID storage systems share the same:

- Graphical user interface (GUI) –Same look and feel when configuring and managing the system

- Firmware, RAID engine, and hardware (including drive carriers)—only the controller host interface is different.

- Easily move drives from a SCSI to an iSCSI solution.

Freedom of Choice: Choose the capacity and brand of hard disk drives in your VTrak 15200

- End Users: Save money with drives that are suitable for your application. Upgradeable as your storage needs increase.

- System Integrators and Value-Added Resellers: Increase your margins by selecting drives purchased at the lowest cost.

What is iSCSI?

iSCSI, or internet SCSI, is an IETF standard which maps SCSI blocks into Ethernet packets. The iSCSI protocol is a method for transporting standard SCSI blocks across IP networks. Traditionally, this is done over Ethernet to take advantage of the massive installed base and knowledge base.

iSCSI also allows you to build storage area networks over IP using something you already know and use everyday: Ethernet. In this way, iSCSI removes the limitations of direct attached storage, including the inability to share storage resources across servers and to expand capacity without shutting down applications.

What are the advantages of iSCSI?

An iSCSI SAN solution costs less than 1/3rd the cost of Fibre Channel and uses standard Ethernet and TCP/IP, so all the same management and knowledge is leveraged. Easy setup, simpler management and lowered costs.

What do I need to use iSCSI connected

storage?

You need an iSCSI based RAID external storage subsystem like the Promise VTrak 15200, a standard Cat5E or Cat6 Ethernet cable, either a standard Gigabit Ethernet NIC with a free iSCSI software initiator or a hardware iSCSI /TOE HBA. If you want to connect more than two servers or build a SAN then you can use any standard Ethernet switch and connect it to that.

Target Applications (Reference Data)

- Any application that requires TBs of data storage with faster access than tape libraries

- Clustering

- Archival data (medical/legal/financial records, e-mail, source code, doc control, records)

- Nearline storage (disk based backup)

- Document/Medical imaging

- Digital Video Surveillance

- Audio/Video editing, archive, distribution and scratch disk

Storage Requirements

- Performance – 75-200 MB/sec (depending on application & connectivity ports)

- Scalability – Support growing requirements for increasing volumes of data, cost : capacity ratio is a key factor

- Fault Tolerance – High data availability and protection

- Connectivity – Multiple user access to a storage box
