Cisco Integration Platform

The Cisco

®

Integration Platform fuels new business agility and innovation by linking

data and services from any application - inside the enterprise and out.

Product Overview

As businesses adopt more cloud and software-as-a-service (SaaS) services, the enterprise application

environment has become extraordinarily complex. With billions of new cloud, mobile, and Internet of Things (IoT) connections coming over the next few years, things will get even more complicated. IT is facing high operational costs and inefficiencies as they struggle to simply manage all of these diverse applications, systems, data, and things, many of which no longer even reside within the enterprise. But it also means that it’s much harder to innovate - to find new ways to capitalize on existing resources and data, and deliver new customer experiences to stay ahead of the competition.

Cisco Integration Platform can help you take control of this growing complexity. It connects all of your diverse on- premise, cloud, and SaaS applications across the enterprise, and makes it easy to exchange data and services between them. And it does it in an automated fashion, reusing application integrations and APIs to radically accelerate the delivery of new customer experiences, at a much lower cost.

The solution brings together two powerful technologies for the first time:

Cisco Integration Bus, an open standards-based integration platform with over 120 prebuilt application connectors, graphical design tools, and mixed-model deployment tools, so you can integrate and deploy any application or service seamlessly and quickly

API Management, a comprehensive suite of lifecycle management capabilities to design, build, and manage APIs for all of your systems and services, and engage with developers taking advantage of them. It includes full life cycle governance to securely expose, externalize, and monetize APIs

The combination of these technologies provides a full set of enterprise-class tools and capabilities to create, deploy, manage, and capitalize on application integrations and APIs throughout your business. These include:

High reliability, with clustering for high availability and enterprise scalability

Broad business visibility through a Business Event Analyzer

Fast problem resolution with the Service Flow Analyzer

Strong security with role-based access control and Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML)

Accelerated deployments with the Deployment Manager and Integrated Repository

Advanced performance management with service-level agreement (SLA) alerts, Monitoring Framework Integration, and the Runtime Performance Manager

Simplified and pervasive operational control with tools like Integration Bus Remote Control, Task Scheduler, Operational Dashboard, and a Representational State Transfer (REST) API for Management

Features and Benefits

Feature Benefit

Hybrid cloud-ready Draw functions and data from any application used in the enterprise - including third-party SaaS and cloud services.

More than 150 prebuilt application, data, and device connectors included (and growing)

Accelerate integrations and delivery of new services and experiences.

Automate and reuse application integration processes

Create and deploy integrations in half the time, while cutting operational effort by up to half the time. Automatic generation of integration flows makes connecting to back-end applications and services fast and painless.

Automated tools to develop, deploy, manage, and reuse APIs

Accelerate API creation and deployment by 50%.

High scalability and flexibility when deployed with Cisco UCS

Protect your investment with a solution that delivers exactly the right capabilities you need and evolves with your business.

Small footprint Run Cisco Integration Platform on commodity hardware, virtual machines, and even developers’

laptops.

High availability Scale integrations across multiple instances to provide high availability, zero message loss, persistent queuing, and instant failover across servers and clusters.

Unified platform for application and data integration

Unlock data for batch or real-time processing. Transform and enhance millions of records regardless of data format with flexible, fast, and reliable tooling.

Lightweight Assemble secure, scalable, reliable integrations that perform up to 30x faster than heavyweight stacks.

Optimize Integrations and APIs

Cisco integration platform gives you the tools and capabilities to radically simplify integrations and build better APIs, faster and at a lower cost. The solution empowers you to:

Maximize productivity of existing resources with a simple, open standards-based Java design studio: Increase developer productivity with a simple design environment, a broad set of tools to optimize connectivity, and the flexibility to integrate anything, anywhere (Figure 1).

Figure 1. Simple Design Environment

Handle business change with ease: Moving to the cloud and going mobile? Deliver business agility with a single platform that spans service-oriented architectures (SOA), SaaS integration, and APIs.

Unite API and application developers to design great APIs: The solution includes full-lifecycle API management capabilities with governance and security at every stage (Figure 2). It also includes a web portal for designing RESTful APIs using RAML, the most intuitive, concise way to design powerful APIs. By enabling closer collaboration between API and application developers, you can create more usable, higher- quality APIs, paving the way to widespread adoption.

(3)

Figure 2. API Lifecycle Management

Drive engagement with your APIs: Publish your APIs, interactive documentation, and code samples to the developer portal so developers can get started quickly. Develop a private portal to engage internal or partner developers and public portals to engage broad developer community. And drive continuous improvement with a “notebook” for developers to document use cases as they are discovered.

Take your APIs from idea to reality, fast: The platform’s integration capabilities draw on field-proven integration expertise, delivering security, scalability, and reliability to all of your APIs. And automatic generation of integration flows makes connecting to back-end applications and services fast and painless.

Take the guesswork out of management and monitoring: The solution provides contract management to control access, establish SLAs, or throttle calls to API endpoints. Pre-packaged policy templates allow you to easily manage compliance, security, and quality of service. And in-depth dashboard analytics help you monitor usage, performance, and SLAs, and address potential issues before they arise.

Flexible Consumption Models to fit Your Business

The Cisco Integration Platform is available in multiple deployment models to fit your business priorities and requirements. You can deploy the solution as:

Software only, deployed on your own hardware and managed entirely by your internal team

Private Cloud, deployed as software on Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS), a pre-integrated on- premise solution that delivers exceptional performance and scalability

Software Only

The on premise software deployment is ideal for customers who have existing IT resources, skill sets, and infrastructure to configure and manage the hardware and software.

Private Cloud

The private cloud deployment is ideal for customers who wish to build their own private cloud (including data centers), deploying behind their firewall. This option is an integrated solution that is easy to use and manage, hosted as a service for their internal customers.

(4)

For private cloud deployments, Cisco Integration Platform also provides these additional capabilities:

Bundled - A pre-engineered, private cloud-enabled physical appliance, deployed on Cisco UCS.

Centralized administration - Provides unified management of the Cisco Integration Platform, the UCS environment, and virtual machine functionality - all from one easy-to-use unified console (“single pane of glass”).

Self Service and Multitenancy - Each software application provides its users with their own instance of their data, configuration, user management, and functionality - all running on a UCS or virtual machine pool.

This results in memory and compute savings due to economies of scale, along with a savings of IT administrative and test costs.

Auto Provisioning - Auto provisioning allows internal users to subscribe to the Cisco Integration Bus or API management capabilities as a service without manual re-configuration

Auto Scaling - Supports dynamically managed workloads. Additional scaling leverages existing UCS farm or a virtual pool. The private cloud deployment option is also configured for clustering and load balancing - both supporting high availability.

Metering - Allows charge-backs to departments based on usage.
