Primary purpose of the role

The Data & Performance Analyst supports the business by providing meaningful data insights and contributes

to the Data and Performance teams’ evaluation of program performance for both internal and external clients.

Key accountabilities

 Partner with business stakeholders to identify key initiatives, outline specific data needs and execute

solutions to business problems, using data analysis and advanced analytics, to meet the business

requirements and drive impact.

 Undertake research and analysis and prepare reports that provide advice, insights and recommendations

on issues relating to transport initiatives and performance and to assist with evaluation of initiatives.

 Interpret data/outcomes to highlight business problems, risks and opportunities.

 Support the development and implementation of reporting tools and analyses that are aligned with key

business needs to provide relevant, clear and actionable insights within agreed timeframes.

 Work with stakeholders on initiatives and change programs to embed effective data analytics and support

performance improvements across the business.

 Contribute to the development of relevant data sets to inform decision-making and reporting, to support

the needs of the business.

 Monitor and analyse the performance of transport services by undertaking trend analysis and using

analytical methods, assisting in identifying potential improvements in reporting and overall performance.

 Maintaining an understanding of data management skills, given the need to balance priorities and meet

deadlines.

 Making recommendations based on data driven insights to the teams across the business demonstrating

an understanding of needs of business and analytics users.

 Maintain a current knowledge of contemporary and emerging best practice in business analysis.

The role is expected to operate with some degree of autonomy in respect to their day to day work priorities and,

deal with and provide advice, exercising discretion and judgement on what is appropriate to send to their

manager and/or leadership team.

The role accounts and reports the relevant reporting line manager.

Key knowledge and experience

 Experience using procedural languages (e.g. Java, Python, SQL), coupled with strong Microsoft Office

skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel (including experience with VBA, and intermediate SQL skills,

particularly with data flows, joins, and table structures.

Essential requirements

 Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as Computer Science, Applied Finance, Statistics, or

related discipline, or equivalent experience working in a business analytics role.
