Today is a “B” day
*Attention Seniors! Are you planning to attend Indiana State University this fall? Apply for the White Star Scholarship. $500 will be awarded to an incoming freshman man or woman who has best
demonstrated excellence in leadership and academics during high school. Copies of the scholarship are available in the ALC Guidance Office. Deadline to apply: September 14, 2013.
* AHS McCalment Scholarship is now available in the ALC Guidance Office. Must be majoring in Business (post secondary) and rank in the top half of the class. Turn in completed applications to the ALC
Guidance Office by 3:00 pm on Friday, May 10, 2013 or to your business teacher.
*Indiana State University - Summer Honors Program – July 21 -27 Explore College! Explore a Career in Teaching this Summer! Earn college credit while getting first-hand experience in teaching innovative learning activities for elementary students. The program cost is $375.00. For more information, visit

* Explore Interior Design Technology at IUPUI This Summer! Summer Non-residential Camp for High School Juniors and Seniors, Male and Female, June 17 -21, 2013, Monday – Friday, 10 am- 4 pm. Camp Fee $100. This week long camp will provide you with interactive opportunities to explore the profession of interior design, and learn if it might be the career path for you. -Paul Mitchell the School Indianapolis. Give Back to Get Back Scholarship Applications are available in the ALC Guidance Office. Paul Mitchell the School Indianapolis will award nine overall scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each to individuals who plan to attend Paul Mitchell the School Indianapolis for
classes on 6/17, 7/2 or 9/9 and have a 2.0 GPA, 75% attendance and write an essay explaining his or her involvement in charitable service. Deadline to apply: May 24, 2013.
*IU Balanced Man Scholarship – Male senior students who will be attending IU Bloomington in fall of 2013 should apply for 1 of 8 - $1000 scholarships sponsored by the Indiana Beta Chapter of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at IU.
*Interested in computers, video games, photography, Videography or web design? The IU School of Informatics at IUPUI is the place for you to spend part of your summer! Workshops are offered 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. M – F. Drop-off/Pick-up is 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 - 4:30 p.m. Cost ranges from: $140 per person to $170 per person. Parking is available for an additional fee. Students must bring their own lunch and each participant will receive a t-shirt. DEADLINE TO REGISTER IS JUNE 1. *The AHS Spring Recital will be held Friday, May 3 at 7pm in the AHS Auditorium. Tickets are $5 for Adults and $3 for Students.
Avon Peer Pals will be holding its final outing of the year on Friday May 10th. We will not be meeting this Friday May 3rd. Expect a newsletter in SRT with details.
It's not too late to sign up for the NHS Dodgeball tournament. You can turn in your team names to either library by this Friday, May 3rd. The teacher team now consists of Mr. Record, Mr. Johnson, Mr.Ball, Mr. Poliskie, Mr. Meunier, and Mr. Bright. -- wouldn't you love to play dodgeball against them? Sign up today.
*Did you know that over 1.4 Billion people around the world live on less than $1.50 per day. Have you ever wondered what you can do about it? “Live Below the Line"" is an annual anti-poverty campaign, which challenges participants to feed themselves on $1.50 per day. This week, Mr. Clark and Miss Coffman and their classes are taking the ""Live Below the Line"" challenge. If you are interested in making a difference by either donating money or trying to live on $1.50 for one day in order to help those stuck in poverty, please see Mr. Clark or Miss Coffman for more details.
*Current Sophomore/Junior students who are interested in becoming an AIM mentor for the 2013-2014 school year, please pick up an application in the guidance office. Those students doing AIM for the 2nd year still need to complete an application. Applications are due to Mrs. Carter, Guidance Secretary by May 10th.
*BPA Members - our etiquette meal is Saturday. Remember to get your reservations in with Chloey Loman as soon as possible. Bring a friend at 6:30 to the Coachman in Plainfield. See you there!
The C Softball Team defeated Roncalli 9 to 6 on Tuesday night. Sophomore Savanna Bowles got the win on the mound, while freshman Kaitlynn Schlitt went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and an RBI and Maddison Brock went 2 for 5 with 2 singles and 3 RBI's. The girls will travel for a game at Lebanon Thursday night.
Avon HS Boys Soccer is hosting its annual summer youth camp June 24th-28th. Boys who will be entering 1st through 9th grade are invited to attend. The camp costs only $50 for those who register by June 7th and only $60 for those registering after June 7th. ACSC employees receive a $5 discount! The camp offers an opportunity to improve your soccer skills and have a lot of fun. Registration forms are available on the boys soccer website.
The varsity baseball team defeated Brownsburg 8-4. Khristian Reynolds was the winning pitcher and also had 3 hits to lead the Orioles. Dylan Jones had 2 hits and Justin Dunham had 3 RBI's. The team also defeated Pike by the score of 7-3. Brad McCaslin picked up the win while Cole Johnson and Josh Ross each had 2 hits.
