Pastor`s Letter

ASCENSION OF THE LORD, C YEAR, JUNE 2, 2019

After 40 days of the presence of Jesus Christ Resurrected, among His disciples, the time has come to give them His last guidelines and to prepare them for His return to heaven.

Christ reminds them one more time what the prophets had spoken about Him: He had to suffer, die and on the third day be resurrected, so that they could later on proclaim the conversion and forgiveness of sins to all the nations, starting with Jerusalem and the Jewish nation. The apostles who were witnesses of those events should never for-

get about spreading the Gospel, remembering that the Holy Spirit would come to instruct and strength them. In this last goodbye of Jesus with his disciples, he tells them to understand that He would never be present on the earth in the same form as He was till now, physically and spiritually. His presence will be now be sacramental through the working of the Holy Spirit. It is the salutary presence of God in the sac- raments of the Church. After the ascension of Jesus the apostles “did him homage and then return to Je- rusalem with great joy, and they were continually in the temple praising God.” In that moment of the ascension of Jesus, the disciples started to worship Him in the temples of the Church as a worker of sal- vation in His Holy Spirit. This Spirit, who works in His Church and through Him in our hearts, is spo- ken in today's second reading.

Po czterdziestu dniach nauczania i instruowania uczniów Jezus wstępuje do nieba, #n. do miejsca i stanu, z którego przyszedł będąc przecież Synem Bożym.
